2021: Announcement of Digital Travel Declaration

On November 8, 2021, the company, SITA global in the ITprovider sphere, announced air transport that it would make the Digital Travel Declaration on travel free and accessible to governments around the world. This solution, which allows you to provide the necessary medical data and information about past trips before arriving at the terminal, will help eliminate one of the serious obstacles to the restoration of the aviation industry - a long check of documents about the state of health of passengers.

SITA announces "Digital Travel Declaration"

According to the company, as part of a recent study by the International Air Transport Organization (IATA), 50 countries were interviewed, of which 38 had any entry restrictions in connection with the pandemic. During this period, for many states, economic recovery depends largely on the tourism industry. According to a report by the World Tourism and Travel Council (WTTC) on the economic impact of the pandemic on air travel, in 2019, international tourism accounted for one in 10 jobs and one in four jobs in the world, and the contribution of tourism to world GDP was 10.3%. However, the lack of common standards for checking passenger health records remains the biggest obstacle to the recovery of global tourism and economic growth.

The current requirements for checking the health of vacationers are burdensome for many, serve as an occasion to abandon vacation plans, and in addition, lead to the formation of long queues at airports. As a company that provides services to air carriers, air harbors and governments, SITA offers a solution designed to optimize the processes associated with checking the health of passengers.

SITA is actively working with governments to use Electronic Travel Authority to issue a Digital Declaration. The system helps Governments to obtain information on the health status of passengers before they arrive at the airport and, subject to all requirements, to issue a travel permit. The digital declaration has been applied around the world since October 2020, allowing you to check data on the state of health of tourists in several steps. The positive decision of the government to enter the country serves as evidence for airlines and airports that the passenger has all the necessary documents with him.

To further the development and rehabilitation of the tourism sector after the pandemic, SITA offers governments free of charge for 12 months to use the original configuration of the Digital Travel Declaration. As of November 2021, the implementation of the SITA Digital Declaration is aimed at optimizing the verification of the necessary medical documents in connection with the pandemic, but this measure will be just as effective in any change in the epidemiological situation in the future. In addition, such a decision can optimize the study of passenger information related to local restrictions in the country, in order to check documents during immigration and in other situations.
