2021: Launch Health Protect Technology

February 19, 2021, SITA- in the ITprovider field of air, transport announced the launch of Health Protect technology, which will help systematize information the state of health of passengers and organize a safe and reliable exchange data between airlines, airports and governments.

Despite the fact that it is too early to talk about the victory over the pandemic, the measures taken on time give results and the epidemiological situation is gradually improving. Against this background, many countries are starting to open borders for tourists. In particular, Russia has resumed flights with more than 20 states, including the UAE, Turkey, Maldives, Greece, Singapore, Vietnam, India, etc.

For many countries, the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic depends heavily on the tourism industry. Therefore, obtaining information about the health of passengers, in particular the results of a PCR test or the history of vaccination, is becoming increasingly important for governments that are in the search for a way to resume safe travel. The SITA Health Protect program responds to this request and allows airlines and passengers to safely send the necessary data from the point of view of current rules to the state.

The solution is easily integrated into existing systems of international electronic passes, including AOK, CommonPass, IATA and SimplyGo, bridging the gap between these services and the processes taking place at airports and at border crossings.

By using pre-processing of passenger information (APP) and electronic travel permit (ETA), the technology allows the authorities to make an informed decision about the admission of a passenger to the flight, reducing risks during the flight and ensuring seamless and contactless travel. In addition, this will help passengers not to become entangled in the documents necessary for the flight, which is especially important in conditions where border crossing rules regularly change.

Passengers who do not provide the requested data or have unsatisfactory survey results will not be allowed to check in on the flight, which means they will not go to the airport and will not pose a danger to others.

At the airport, Health Protect synchronizes with existing traveler data processing systems using SITA Flex contactless passenger monitoring technology. A big advantage of the technology is the possibility of introducing into the existing information infrastructure - minimum technical innovations are required from carriers and airports.

We are very pleased that SITA Health Protect is able to overcome the contradiction between the resumption of international flights and the close attention of governments to the restrictions caused by COVID-19. Recovery from the pandemic takes time and is a complex process, but we are confident that SITA will play a key role in providing a safer and simpler passenger experience,

As part of the pilot launch of the project, SimplyGo became a partner of SITA.

During the trial, travelers received a negative test result for COVID-19 through Appendix SimplyGo before the trip. Then the data were stored on the SimplyGo platform and became available to airlines and border services that allowed landing on the plane and arrival in the country of destination. Integration with UAE government systems was made possible by the pre-processing platform for passenger information (APP) provided by SITA.

SimplyGo and APP integration is part of SITA's Health Protect ecosystem and automates the delivery of passenger health data to airlines, airports, and government agencies. Adapting the application to current COVID-19 requirements will allow travelers to enjoy the trip, and airports to increase efficiency and security.
