Employees of the Salyut PC of the United Engine Corporation have developed a laser robotic complex for the manufacture of parts of both serial and promising aircraft engines. It allows welding and cutting operations, replaces three pieces of equipment at once and reduces the labor intensity of technical processes. Rostec announced this on August 30, 2022.

Thanks to the six-axis manipulator and two-coordinate positioner of the complex, the laser beam can reach even the most inaccessible working area, which minimizes the requirements for tooling. The multifunctional equipment is provided by interchangeable optical heads: the wide focus of the beam allows welding metal, the focused beam - its cutting.

An aircraft engine is a complex, piece product, for the production of which special equipment is often needed. UEC employees have created a laser complex, which is ideal for the Salyut production complex to solve the tasks facing it. It replaces three pieces of equipment at once, takes up five times less space, halves the supply chain. All this reduces the labor intensity of operations by 10%, makes work on parts of serial and promising engines faster and more technological, "said Oleg Yevtushenko, executive director of Rostec.

The complex has already developed laser welding, cutting and perforation technologies for steels and alloys used in the engine industry. The necessary documentation for the operation of the complex has been developed. Employees of the enterprise have mastered operations on the processing of parts of a promising engine: laser volumetric cutting of slots and perforation of holes, laser welding of ribs, volumetric cutting of ends, welding of the back wall, work is carried out to expand the range of use of new equipment.

The development and implementation of a robotic laser complex is necessary for us for laser welding and cutting thin-walled structures of body parts and components of promising aircraft engines. The introduction of technologies that meet international standards is included in the priorities and prospects for scientific and technical development and is outlined in the Strategy for Scientific and Technical Development of UEC JSC, - said the head of the Salyut production complex of UEC JSC Alexei Gromov.
