2020: Construction of smart hospital with a 5G communication

At the end of January, 2020 the largest South Korean telecommunication company KT Corporation also Samsung Medical Center combined efforts for construction of smart hospital with 5G- communication. The companies provided the hospital network based on a 5G providing a number of medical services, including digital diagnostics, training of surgeons, stationary leaving with use artificial intelligence and autonomous robot for the operating room.

Use of technology 5G for digital diagnostics will allow departments to study quicker the data obtained during transaction. This technology also accelerates data access KT and MPT on proton therapy so specialists will be able to get access to files from any computer within the medical center.

One more innovation is the educational program with support of a 5G which allows surgeons to train from the operating room big groups of probationers physicians in separate audience, using the synchronizing cameras in 5G network. The technology allows medical students to get acquainted closer with procedures, without taking the place in operational halls. Within the educational program students will be able to receive qualitative voice and videos from surgeons in real time. The companies confirmed that they will continue work on new devices based on technology 5G, including using VR and AR for training.

KT and Samsung also developed the robot who will utilize the used materials and other medical waste and to deliver necessary surgical instruments to the operating room. It is expected that the new solution not only will reduce prevalence of secondary and tertiary infections, but also will allow to save on use of manual work, and thanks to support of a 5G minimizes failures and a delay of delivery at data exchange.[1]
