2023: Putin's opening of the movement of electric ships along the Moscow River

On June 20, 2023, the President of Russia launched the first regular route of electric river trams in Moscow. Their launch will improve transport services for about 1.5 million people living in 18 districts of the capital and provide them with alternative travel options, according to the official website of the mayor of Moscow.

Putin examined the electric ship "Skhodnya"

The first route with a length of more than 6.5 km connects the Kievsky station with a pier on Shelepikhinskaya embankment - actively under construction and developing areas of Moscow, the Kremlin press service reports. The carrying capacity will be 15-16 thousand passengers per day.

Eight electric ships will run along the route, named after the capital's rivers: Sinichka, Setun, Presnya, Filka, Skhodnya, Ramenka, Yauza and Neglinka. On June 20, 2023, Vladimir Putin boarded one of them - Skhodni, got acquainted with the equipment of the passenger compartment.

Until June 23, 2023, travel on electric river trams will be free. It will be possible to enter the ship using a Troika card, a bank card, including one loaded into an Android phone with NFC, or biometrics. At the same time, money for travel will not be written off.

As stated in the Moscow mayor's office, the launch of electric ships is a unique project not only for Moscow and Russia as a whole, but also in world practice. This is the world's first modern water transport entirely on the electric track, which will move along the river all year round.

The created tram car is generally the best in the world in terms of comfort, ecology, design and a number of parameters, and nowhere in the world does such a regular river transport exist. That is, we are the first in the world, this is our development, this is a domestic product by almost 80-90 percent, and this is our competitive advantage, which we could consolidate in the future, "said Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.[1]

For the first electric ship, Muscovites have already chosen the name - "Sinichka," it will begin to carry passengers next [2022], - quoted the words of the deputy mayor of the capital for transport Maxim Liksutov in the Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of the capital.

According to him, the decision to return regular river transport routes was made by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. After almost 16 years, residents of the capital will again be able to move along the river and save up to an hour of travel time, Liksutov said. In total, 20 electric ships will operate for river transportation. They will be gradually introduced on two river routes: from the Kievsky railway station to the Fili park and from the Avtozavodsky bridge to Pechatnikov.

Moscow launches the first electric river trams "Sinichka"

Each river tram will have 42 seats, including for people with disabilities. In the cabin, it will be possible to charge the phone via USB ports, connect to Wi-Fi, and also work at a laptop while sitting at tables. A separate space will be allocated for travel with bicycles and scooters.

Per day, one tram will be able to carry up to 16 thousand passengers. You can pay for travel with Troika, a bank card or using a biometric system. This transport will carry passengers all year round.

It is noted that the electric river tram is 100% environmentally friendly transport, which does not produce harmful emissions.

The name for electric river trams was chosen by Muscovites on the Active Citizen portal. Residents chose from five options: Setun, Zhuzha, Yauza, Sinichka and Neglinka. All names coincide with the names of Moscow rivers. This concept was proposed by Muscovites a year ago.[2]
