2022: Creation of Russia's first water navigation application

In mid-July 2022, it became known about the creation of the first application in Russia for navigation on water. At least, this is how they position their development under the name BoatMap in the Sevastopol company Smart Turbo Technology.

As the developer's technical director Vyacheslav Loginov told TASS, by mid-July 2022, only a demo version of the application for devices running Android and iOS operating systems is available, and beta testing among users starts up to a year

According to him, as of July 18, 2022, 1.5 million ships were registered in Russia. The company from Sevastopol set the task to occupy 10-15% of the market at the first stage, in the future - to cover the entire market. In the appendix to July 18, 2022, maps of the waterways of Sevastopol, St. Petersburg and Kazan are available. Also in the future, the service will cooperate with other services, for example, boat rental services, Loginov noted.

Vyacheslav Loginov noted that in a short time the company managed to assemble a team to build geoinformation systems and cartography, as a result of which a mobile application for navigation and a set of navigation maps, as well as a database on coastal infrastructures, appeared. It is assumed that with the help of BoatMap, users will be able to find out during the trip "where this or that pier is located, whether it is possible to stay there, and what attractions are nearby."

The development is carried out by a consortium of companies - in addition to the IT company SmartTurboTech, it involves the supplier of maps and navigation solutions MAURICE and ANO Agency for the Development of the Water Recreation Industry and Coastal Territories Great Arctic Regatta[1]
