2022: Parachute development

In February 2022, Rostec announced the development of a smart parachute capable of fully automatically landing cargo with increased accuracy using GLONASS or GPS navigation systems.

The press service of the state corporation indicated that the automated parachute cargo delivery system and universal parachute cargo linkage were developed by the Ivanovo Parachute Plant. " Flight It includes a landing platform, a parachute with a controlled wing dome, as well as equipment that provides automatic flight of the transport complex and its guidance.

In Russia, created a smart parachute for landing cargo on GPS

Using the system, loads weighing up to 250 kg can be dropped both in GLONASS or GPS guidance mode, using a digital communication channel with ground control equipment, and in "slave" mode. In this case, the cargo follows the "leading" paratrooper.

The system is designed for landing from a height of up to 8000 m. Thanks to navigation systems under standard weather conditions, the error when landing will not exceed 100 m of circular probable deviation, Rostec said.

By February 2022, the cargo system is patented and undergoing flight design tests, it is planned that by the end of the year the prototype will be transferred for testing to the State Flight Test Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The universal parachute cargo linkage is under research tests, during which, among other things, methods for its use on various types of aircraft in service in the Russian army will be determined, said Igor Nasenkov, Director General of Technodinamika JSC.

Rostec also said that a parachute cargo link is still patented, with the help of which, if necessary, the payload of any parachute system can be increased to 500 kg.
