2022: Weed Killing Robot Announcement

On August 30, 2022, development agricultural robotics company Solinftec announced the expansion of its range. It included the Solix Sprayer robot, designed to detect and spray weeds.

The developers call Solix Sprayer a brand new technology that helps manufacturers reduce chemical consumption and provide a lower carbon footprint and environmental impact.

Weed-killing robot released

The Solix Sprayer robot provides autonomous and stable point spraying of agricultural fields. Like the existing Solix Scouting robot, the sprayer robot is powered by four solar panels that control the drive system and spray system. The robot has a built-in reporting function that provides information on crop population, weed identification and density, disease identification and thresholds, insect identification and thresholds, nutrient deficiency identification and density, and layers of maps for data analysis. Weed point spraying maps with input analysis can serve 40 Ha per day depending on the shape of the field and terrain.

The robot is billed as a solution to the need to feed the world on a larger scale with less impact. The developers claim that it will revolutionize farm business practices with end-to-end mission-critical solutions that deliver up to 70% efficiency by transforming data into action.

For August 2022, pilot tests of the Solix sprayer are conducted in partnership with Grownmark Agricultural Cooperative, Purdue University, Stone Farms, and the University of Saskatchewan in Canada. The commercial release of the Solix spray is scheduled for 2023.[1]
