2019: Smart Metering Devices Launch Announcement

On July 30, 2019, the Roselectronics holding of Rostec State Corporation announced that in 2020 it will launch mass production of smart gas, water and electricity metering devices that allow managing energy consumption using a special mobile application. The system will tell the consumer how to save energy resources due to the optimal operation of household appliances. The announced measuring devices will be built on a domestic element base and Russian software.

According to the developer, smart meters will determine consumption indicators more accurately than traditional measuring tools. The equipment will be able to read and save information in real time, notify about losses and monitor the quality of communal resources. Smart devices will be equipped with radio channels for receiving and transmitting information over the Internet. In addition, they will be cryptographically protected from unauthorized access and attempts to change the meter readings. All data will be transferred directly to resource supplying organizations, as well as downloaded to a mobile application, with the help of which the consumer will be able to monitor all indicators online and pay for consumed resources.

According to Roselectronics specialists, digitalization of the utilities sector will improve the quality and reliability of resource supply. Smart meters make it possible to more effectively manage resource consumption: they provide optimal power redistribution at peak loads, allow you to quickly identify and eliminate technical problems, exclude the possibility of non-contractual consumption of energy resources. For consumers, such devices increase the transparency of the energy consumption process and simplify the payment process. It is also important that "smart" equipment will be produced in Russia, while previously such devices were purchased abroad.

The production of meters is organized by NPP "Istok" named after Shokin holding "Roselectronics." To implement the project, the Industrial Development Fund approved a loan to the enterprise in the amount of 363 million rubles under the Conversion program. A production line will be created for the allocated funds, as well as personnel training and certification of production.

At the first stage, it is planned to begin production of single-phase and three-phase electricity metering devices as part of the cooperation of Rostec State Corporation with the Rosseti group of companies. In the future, the line of manufactured equipment is planned to be supplemented with intelligent gas and water metering devices. The volume of production in 2020 will be 700 thousand devices, and from 2021 will increase to 1 million.

Roselectronics began implementing a project to localize the production of metering devices in 2018. As part of the first stage, a joint venture was created with the domestic manufacturer of smart meters PKK Milander. The presentation of the 3D model of an intelligent electricity metering device based on domestic components and software developed by Roselectronics took place in May 2019.
