RFID is an identification technology that provides more capabilities than traditional marking systems. The most common RFID tags, like many barcodes, are self-adhesive labels. But if the information is stored graphically on the barcode, then the data is entered into the label and read using radio waves. The RFID tag is a miniature memory. It consists of a microchip that stores information and an antenna with which the label transmits and receives this data. Sometimes the RFID tag has its own power source (such tags are called active), but most tags lack it (these tags are called passive).

2018: RFID marking tests for valuable wood
On November 7, 2018, Rostec announced that the Roselectronics holding had successfully tested RFID tags for marking valuable wood. Read more here.
2017: TwinTag Trio
TwinTag Trio is the world's first RFID tag that is compatible with any of the three chips from the world's largest manufacturers. This allows you to vary the technical characteristics of RFID tags and use them in various industries: jewelry, alcohol, pharmaceuticals, fashion, not to mention the classic automation of production processes. The decision to install a particular chip on an RFID label is made depending on the customer's need, marking objects and the conditions for their registration.
The scope of RFID is constantly expanding. The technology is in demand in those industries that need real-time control of the movement of objects, protection of products from counterfeiting and counterfeiting, intelligent automation solutions, the ability to work in harsh operating conditions, error-free, speed and reliability. There are daily reports of new ways to use the technology.
RUTI Inventas specialists have improved the tag antenna, ensuring compatibility with Alien Technology's Higgs chips. Now chips from three leading world manufacturers can be installed on the label: NXP, Impinj and Alien. In addition to significantly reducing the time to re-adjust production lines when switching to new orders, the approach used allows RUTI Inventas to quickly and flexibly adapt to the constantly changing requirements of consumers of its products.
One of the first directions where the new labels will be used are control identification signs (KiZ) issued by Goznak for marking fur products in accordance with the standards adopted when creating the Unified System for Marking Goods in the EAEU. This system involves marking each unit of the accounting object (in this case, a fur product) with an RFID label converted into it.
"One of the first interests in the TwinTag Trio tag with the Higgs chip was shown by Goznak. And our engineers, of course, took into account the wishes of a respected client when developing. TwinTag Trio with Higgs chip meets all the technical requirements for RFID tags integrated into control identification marks (CID). After successful tests and tests, the first industrial batch of the new RFID tag was shipped to the customer. At the same time, the range of applications of TwinTag Trio is not limited to fur topics, "said Melnik Ilya, head of key clients at RUTI Inventas.
2016: Order for 1.4 million RFID tag units
On October 12, 2016, the press service of Micron PJSC announced that it had received an order for the release of an additional circulation of RFID tags in the amount of 1.4 million units.
The order was formed within the framework of the project of the Eurasian Economic Union to create a Unified system for marking goods for marking fur products.
In September 2016, Micron received an order for the production and supply of 2 million RFID tags by the end of October 2016. Taking into account the previously shipped, by the end of 2016, Micron is obliged to supply the customer with more than 4 million units of products.
RFID marks "Micron" are designed for the manufacture of polygraphically protected control identification marks (KiZ), which mark fur products. The RFID label in the CiP contains information on the history of origin and movement of the fur product, which allows you to keep a general record of marked products, provides additional protection of the form against counterfeiting.
To participate in this project, Micron developed and mastered several special RFID tags in serial production, in accordance with the customer's requirements. The company's labels operate in the UHF range, comply with ISO 18000-63, ISO/IEC 18000-63: 2013, ISO/IEC 29160 standards, have an automatic mode for simultaneously reading a large number of targets at a distance of up to 9 m.
RFID identification technology is part of the industrial Internet of Things (IoT) used in the field of production automation, logistics optimization and product authenticity control.
Gartner experts estimate the volume of the global IoT market by 2020 at $300 billion, Russian - $980 million (J'son & Partners).
2015: TwinTag Finalization
RUTI Inventas, a portfolio company of Rusnano, completed the development of a new TwinTag RFID tag in 2015. The label is designed to mark fur coats and fur products, and the design of its antenna has no analogues in the world.
The TwinTag tag can be manufactured with different UHF chip models, which not only allows uninterrupted production and delivery of tags to customers, but also expands the range of possible TwinTag applications. The label can be used to automate logistics and manufacturing processes. In addition, it is optimized for integration into plastic cards, labels and tags, the company said.
The TwinTag label is already used as part of the project to create a Unified System for Marking Goods in the EAEU. During testing, TwinTag demonstrated excellent characteristics, noted in Rusnano. At the moment, the technology of converting the mark (in dry oil format) into a control identification mark for marking fur coats and other fur products is being developed.
"TheTwinTag design allows you to use the label in solutions that require stable registration of objects in different planes (3D format). In addition, the TwinTag registration range reaches 11 meters, which significantly exceeds the analogues on the market, "said Alexander Komkov, a specialist at RUTI Inventas.
