Univadis is an information and education resource of MSD company for medical specialists. Offering the high-quality, independent and checked medical information, Univadis is the leading portal for doctors, available in 17 languages in 43 countries of the world. Everything in the world for April, 2014 the number of users of the portal reaches 2.5 million.

The website is completely free from commercial influence and advertizing. All materials are considered and approve by independent international committee of experts. The MSD company supports a resource according to the registered policy of the website and in no way does not influence its contents.

History

2012: Start of the portal

Official start of the first Russian-language version of the portal took place in 2012 with assistance of the Russian Academy of Medical Science (RAMS). Univadis provides access to the medicine news, educational online courses approved by experts 2D - and 3D - anatomy, more than 3000 thousand medical images, scientific articles, reviews and results of researches from the leading medical editions, such as The Lancet, BMJ (British Medical Journal) and other world famous magazines, clinics and associations.

2014: Updating of the portal

On April 9, 2014 in Moscow within the XXI Russian national congress "Person and Medicine" the MSD company known as Merck&Co. in the USA and Canada, announced start in Russia of completely upgraded version of the authoritative international information and education portal for doctors of Univadis.

Univadis became the first international professional medical resource translated into Russian which purpose is providing objective and impartial high-quality information to doctors of different specialties.

For April, 2014 the number of specialists, at least once used portal resources, reaches 62 thousand that makes about 10% of all Russian doctors.

The vice president and the managing director of MSD company in Russia Steffen Brigger noted Lund: "Being the global company, MSD understands all importance of access for doctors to high-quality, objective and reliable medical information. Within more than 100 years of MSD cooperates with the key scientific leaders in the edition of one of the most famous professional reference books on medicine in the world – The Merck Manual. Permanent focus of MSD company on information and education initiatives for doctors and on providing resources high-quality and unique in own way to medical community is confirmed, in particular, regeneration of the Univadis portal and answers the purpose of MSD company — to creation of the innovative solutions in the field of health care".

New Univadis supports expanded library of resources which are presented in the form of applications now. Doctors can select necessary a section-application from big library of medical applications and personalize the portal, i.e. configure Univadis according to the clinical interests and specialization. Thanks to simple, clear and universal design, users can easily and quickly find the necessary sections irrespective of, they are connected from the working or home computer. Now, when the platform is adapted for work from any tablets and smartphones, doctors always also will have near at hand and in one place quick access to a huge number of news, researches, training courses and tools everywhere, including applicable, in a literal sense, at the patient's bed: to questionnaires, medical calculators, reference books.

In the presentation at the conference, devoted to start of new Univadis, the academician of RAS, the honored doctor of Russia, the director and the chairman of the academic council of Federal State Budgetary Institution TSNIIOIZ of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Vladimir Ivanovich Starodubov emphasized importance of a resource for the Russian scientific community:

"Similar projects promote increase in knowledge of doctors of the latest world developments in the field of medicine since provide all new information in Russian. The quality of materials on Univadis meets the highest international standards. All materials approve by independent international committee of experts, and it is a guarantor of their objectivity and freedom from commercial influence".

The Univadis portal also provides to doctors exclusive free access more than to 400 professional medical courses developed by BMJ Learning – the world leader in creation of modules for remote education of doctors of different specialties. Several tens of rates are already transferred to Russian.

Remote types of training of doctors entered world practice of post-qualifying medical education for a long time. The vice rector for study of the First Moscow state medical university of I.M. Sechenov professor Andrey Alekseyevich Svistunov noted:

"The system of medical education changes, and we need new solutions.
