The data processing center of NOTA ("Modular DPC from a container") represents a set of modules of pre-fabricated frame construction. One of advantages of DPC is the compactness of components of construction of NOTA as gives the chance to transport it all means of transport in a standard ISO container. It reduces logistics cost in comparison with container data processing centers and DPC of the class pre-fabricated. Other important advantage of NOTA is significant reduction of project deadlines and cutting of costs for creation or expansion of DPC. It manages to be reached thanks to the fact that the modular DPC of NOTA is not an object of capital construction, does not require the base and it is mounted without use of the heavy construction equipment and lifting gears. The modular DPC of NOTA gives ample opportunities of scaling and allows to create optimal design of DPC under any quantity of racks from 3 to several thousand, IT loading and levels of readiness of the engineering systems.

2017

Start in production of two models of DPC NOTA Container

On October 30, 2017 the Utilex company announced start in production of two models of mobile DPCs NOTA Container.

Their feature in placement of the equipment, including external blocks of the Clever Breeze cooling system, in construction with transport dimensions. It reduces terms of transportation of World Data Centres of this kind in assembled form.

According to the producer, such type of construction approaches where there is a need in one standard solution for several objects or regular transportations and operational start of World Data Centres in different places are necessary.

As a part of a line of World Data Centres of NOTA Container:

  • NOTA Сontainer 20ft.
  • NOTA Сontainer 40ft.

All equipment, including external blocks of the Clever Breeze cooling system of development "Utilex", is placed in ready constructions with dimensions of transport ISO containers 20 or 40 of feet (depending on the selected model).

Among other properties:

  • precision cooling with the level of reservation 2N;
  • the guarantee of the producer for the temperature range of work is from -55 °C;
  • conditioners are connected from the UPS;
  • space for service in "cold" and "hot" corridors;
  • possibility of installation and start on the flat platform without preparation of the buried base.
  • terms of production, delivery and start in operation of 13 weeks;
  • network of partners for service of technology.

2014

The patent for foundation of DPC is taken out

On March 31, 2014 the Utilex company announced obtaining the patent for the hermetic bearing panel – the basis and the base of an enclosing structure of modular DPC of NOTA.


Description

The technology is developed by architects of Utilex company within creation of the autonomous quickly built modular DPC of NOTA.

The bearing building panel patented by "Utilex" has the increased bearing capacity, durability and small weight. It represents a cheap, simple construction element in production which can be used, including, for installation of foundations of the buildings needing installation of a technology raised floor. Use of the bearing panel developed by "Utilex" gives the chance to considerably simplify and reduce the price of basic construction of a data processing center. The modular DPC of NOTA is not an object of capital construction, does not require the base, is mounted without use of the heavy construction equipment and lifting gears. Besides, the data center constructed on this technology can be moved, having dismantled and having again collected on the new place.

Due to standardization of blocks quality improvement and reliability of infrastructure is reached, terms of creation and operating costs decrease. The modular DPC of NOTA can be created based on necessary number of the bearing panels – from one to several tens. It gives the chance to create optimal design of DPC under any quantity of racks, IT loading and levels of readiness of the engineering systems. Scaling happens adding of required quantity of panels – flexible and economic accumulation of power of DPC without stopping of operation of the available equipment is so reached.

Anatoly Ferentsev, the head "Infrastructure", Utilex company, noted: "Obtaining the patent for the bearing panel for a data processing center of NOTA – certainly an important step for Utilex company. We created and presented the new and at the same time absolutely clear and simple product relevant for many companies at the market".

The Federal Service for Intellectual Property granted in the summer of 2014 certificate No. 515668 on the trademark of modular DPC of NOTA. The solution developed by "Utilex" represents autonomous pre-fabricated infrastructure of data center based on the patented pre-fabricated frame module.


Main characteristics of the solution:

  • The total area of one module – from 6.2 sq.m to 124.74 sq.m;
  • In one module - from 2 to 50 cabinets with dimensions from 600mm*1070mm to 800mm*1200mm and up to 48U high;
  • Several methods of scaling on the area due to application of the patented bearing panel (The patent for useful model No. 138677);
  • Possibility of creation of clusters of World Data Centres from any number of modules and any power;
  • Gathers from conventional components which are transported in an ISO container and are mounted without application of heavy lifting gears (special equipment);
  • An opportunity to provide any required IT load of racks (from 5 kW to 40 kW);
  • An opportunity to provide any level of reliability of engineering infrastructure (Tier 1, 2, 3, 4) and also to change these parameters further;
  • Broad temperature range of start and operation.

Scopes:

  • Creation of distributed networks of data processing centers;
  • Creation of large modular DPCs;
  • Creation of "private cloud";
  • Creation of "temporary" IT infrastructure;
  • Basis for leasing of private infrastructure.

Advantages of the solution In comparison with traditional DPCs in the building:

  • Decrease in capital costs, including for scht lack of expenses on architectural and construction design, cutting of costs for design of engineering infrastructure putm typifications of systems, lack of the base, etc.
  • Saving of time and means due to the lack of need of obtaining permission to capital construction;
  • Possibility of building of infrastructure in process of business development (requirements);
  • Significant decrease in terms of design and implementation;
  • Release of the areas in the building for proper use;
  • Expense reduction on the electric power thanks to effective cooling;

Possibility of reuse.

In comparison with "container" DPCs:

  • Cheaper than container solutions, including transportation cost falls significantly;
  • Lack of need for the base;
  • An opportunity to place any required number of the equipment with any loading and level of reliability of engineering infrastructure;
  • Flexible scaling (with a step to a rack, but not a container);
  • Decrease in energy costs due to effective cooling;
  • The service space in World Data Centres conforms to requirements of Service regulations of electric units;
  • Increase in tightness of World Data Centres due to lack of additional service openings.

"Utilex" joins the Open Compute Project project

The Utilex company, the Russian producer of modular data processing centers, announces adaptation of architecture of modular DPC of NOTA under placement of racks of Open Rack.

Within the Open Compute project organized by Facebook company a set of open specifications for equipment of the data-centers aimed at ensuring maximum efficiency of work of infrastructure at the minimum costs develops. Among project participants – company HP, AMD, Dell Microsoft IBM, VMware, Canonical, Supermicro and other leaders of IT market. One of components of the project is the attempt of creation of the new standard in design for server racks. By preparation of the specification developers made a start from the real server racks developed by Facebook company and implemented in its data centers. The main features are resistant:

  • Simple modular design and ease of assembly/dismantling.
  • Simplicity of installation/dismantling of the equipment in racks.
  • Use of higher units (48 mm instead of traditional 44.5 mm) which are referred to as OpenU. Increase in height of a unit is caused by desire to provide more effective cooling.
  • Rack width – 23.6 inches, depth of 36-48 inches, height is up to 48 units. Width of the mounted equipment is determined in 21 inches that allows to place if desired in a rack and the normal equipment for 19-inch racks. The increased size of width of a compartment opens ampler opportunities on configuration of the equipment, for example, to one box it is possible to lay three standard motherboards or five 3.5-inch hard drives.
  • Three cable-free power buses (12 Volts - a direct current) which allow to attach without wires the equipment to the bus in a back part of a rack. Distributing for alternating current of 120-240 Volts is in addition provided;
  • Single centralized system of cooling;
  • Reduction of aggregate value at the expense of longer product lifecycle.

Modular DPC in IT infrastructure of the mining enterprise

Utilex company together with the developer of solutions in the field of management of the electric power of Schneider Electric provided at the end of 2014 a set of products and services for creation of IT infrastructure of the mining enterprises.

The mining industry is one of the most important industries of national economy as determines the mineral and raw capacity of the state. Owing to such features of this industry as high costs for operating activities, problems of environment protection, health and security, the enterprise of the mining sector are considered as one of the most difficult in management and strategic foresight.
