VCE VxRack System 1000 becomes completely cloud
EMC announced in the spring of 2016 expansion of a line of the VCE VxRack systems of series 1000 which will allow to use cloud services of IaaS based on the Neutrino nodes. The flexibility of the VxRack system provides its concept to Rack-Scale which allows corporations and providers to use different node types for different loadings, systematically moving to implementation of the initiatives of IT - transformation. The VxRack system allows to start loadings in the necessary scale, providing for them the hyper convergent systems of the class Rack-Scale — the integrating computing, capacity and network resources with the built-in management tools. Such approach, according to representatives of the company, allows to simplify work of DPC, to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) in comparison with the traditional SAN environments and it is easy to scale a system on demand.
Customers can implement the cloud IaaS systems of the corporate level for only several days, using the built-in automation equipment and dynamically selecting resources — such actions it is possible to implement less, than in one hour, claim in the company. In addition to it the level of automation of software allows to simplify transactions of "the second day", including use of monitors and the reporting, software updating in one click by a mouse and also uniform support from vendor for cloud solutions of IaaS with the open code and data stacks.
The VxRack system with Neutrino Nodes represents a basis for different cloud services, including OpenStack, VMware Photon and Apache Hadoop. But besides, the VxRack system with Neutrino Nodes is also the reference option IaaS for the new EMC Native Hybrid Cloud (NHC) platform.
NHC is the specially developed platform of new generation which allows to start services for developers and support of infrastructure literally in two days, declared in EMC. NHC helps to realize the DevOps model when for users simply "everything works", and developers receive a broad set of services quickly to create, implement, scale and manage all lifecycle of cloud applicaions, at the same time providing the necessary overview, control and transparency of financial processes in IT.
VCE VxRack systems of series 1000
The VxRack system is the specially developed hyper convergent system of the class Rack-Scale with previously integrated network components which satisfy the needs for scaling and management for modern loadings. Such approach allows customers to reduce costs and to reduce risks of acquisition in comparison with the infrastructure platforms expected only traditional business applications or implementations of cloud applicaions alone.
EMC does possible adaptation of the VxRack system to certain application environments by means of different software-defined nodes — Neutrino Nodes, Flex Nodes and SDDC Nodes. All nodes are optimized for certain loadings and closely integrated with architecture of VxRack and also management tools. As a result the customer receives completely tested, already configured hyper convergent system with the automatic selection of resources simplified by management and means of the reporting — both in own DPC, and in infrastructure of provider of services where there are hundreds of different nodes. The VxRack system supports deployment of different applications and loadings on the same infrastructure, allowing IT to lift quickly new services, noted in EMC.
Options: available VxRack System 1000 nodes
In addition to new Neutrino Nodes, EMC also offers Flex Nodes and SDDC Nodes optimized for certain loadings.
So, VxRack with Flex Nodes uses software-defined DPCs of EMC ScaleIO, creating a flexible, open and heterogeneous environment for providing scalable services IaaS. This solution is optimized for corporate DPCs and service providers who want to implement easily software-defined architecture for a broad spectrum of traditional corporate loadings within a heterogeneous set of abstract models. In process of adding of new nodes capacity growth and growth of IOPS is reached. According to developers, there is a linear gain of performance excluding emergence of "bottlenecks".
A system can be started on one node with further scaling up to thousands of nodes, providing access to thousands of cores of CPU, more than a petabyte of OZU and tens petabyte of the storage capable to provide tens of millions of IOPS.
In turn, VxRack with VMware SDDC Nodes is the system created especially for the IT companies which use software of VMware as the standard of software-defined technologies in DPC and want to rely on the created basis for start of a broad spectrum of corporate loadings. The corporations which are already working with VMware and service providers want to receive the simple software-defined architecture in implementation optimized for support of the most different traditional corporate loadings for the DPCs. SDDC Nodes consist of hardware and program components in which number leave VMware vSphere Enterprise, VMware Virtual SAN, VMware NSX, vCenter Server and crucial elements of VMware vRealize Suite. As a result customers receive a uniform type and management tools for physical and virtual resources.
Irrespective of type of the implemented nodes (Node), the VxRack system provides the accelerated output to the market of new services and applications and also reduction of complexity of IT, claim in EMC.
In general, according to the company, VxRack allows: start small installations (1/3 racks) and to scale a system (hundreds or thousands of nodes in a set of racks), quickly adding nodes and receiving options for accumulation of capacities in strict compliance to requirements; to completely integrate network infrastructure of the class Rack-Scale, thanks to existence of already integrated physical network components expected extreme scaling (each type of nodes also supports software-defined network capabilities in addition to strong support of the physical layer of network); optimize an indicator of TCO due to reduction of resources on administration, elastic expansion and also updating of the equipment and software without violation of work of services, at the same time decrease in energy consumption, costs for cooling and reduction of the occupied space in comparison with traditional infrastructure is observed, specified in EMC.
Among other features there is VxRack: the simple user interface which allows to implement, control and support system resources; a complete management system for lifecycle due to preliminary testing of the equipment and software updatings; software-defined computing, capacity and network resources for implementation of new generation of the mobile, cloud and mixed loadings, including traditional and exclusively cloud applicaions.
The VxRack system also allows to use possibilities of architecture of VCE Vscale and software of VCE Vision allowing to create the pools of resources of DPC supporting convergent processes and uniform management. This unified architecture of DPC can be used for different platforms and geographical zones, it adds one more crucial measurement, supplementing scaling options and flexibility of the solutions EMC.
2015: VCE VxRack
On May 15, 2015 the VCE company announced release of the VxRack family.
The VxRack systems are completely software-defined solutions on the basis of EMC ScaleIO storage system, in their structure there are built-in network components for ensuring transparent scalability and assume separate scaling of computing resources and resources of storage that helps customers to use all advantages of hyper convergent architecture without restrictions.
The VxRack systems differ in flexibility as there is a freedom of choice of the program stacks defining execution of a system. These program stacks are created on the basis of the joint business divisions EMC and partners and help customers to compare the VxRack systems with the application environments.
