2018: VivoWatch BP announcement
On June 5, 2018, Asus showed off the VivoWatch BP smartwatch (model number HC-A04), equipped with real-time blood pressure monitoring.
The gadget worn on the wrist received a sensor for an electrocardiogram, which allows you to determine the heart rate, as well as a photopletismogram sensor for recording blood flow. This displays the upper (systolic) and lower (diastolic) pressure values.
To measure blood pressure, the user needs to put his finger on the scanner on the front panel. The measurement is carried out in about 15-20 seconds.
The manufacturer claims that the smartwatch is made from materials that are used in medicine. The device turned out to be 70% smaller and 50% thinner compared to modern tonometers on the wrist.
In addition to measuring blood pressure, the electronic device records heart rate, calories burned, distance traveled, sleep quality and physical activity data. All this information is processed by the Asus HealthAI AI platform, so that users can constantly monitor their health and improve their lifestyle.
Asus claims 28 days of VivoWatch BP battery life in "normal" use, double the rate of regular VivoWatch watches.
In addition, the new product uses a liquid crystal screen with an energy-efficient microcontroller, a GPS module for tracking location and protection against water and dust according to the IP67 standard.
The Asus VivoWatch BP will be sold in several body colors for $169. First, the product will appear on the Taiwanese market in July 2018, and in a month it can be purchased in Europe.[1]
