Announcement of "Vizir-2M" model
The Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ) in June 2024 presented its new hydrographic keyless boat "Vizir-2M." This boat is equipped with a gyro-stabilized high-sensitivity platform developed by KMZ specialists, which allows it to operate effectively in conditions of strong wind and sea unrest.
Tests "Vizir-2M" with a new platform were successfully completed in May 2024. According to Mikhail Danilenko, Managing Director of KMZ, the boat is able to hold set targets and quickly focus on them, which makes it indispensable for examining hard-to-reach objects and clearly positioning high-precision equipment, including satellite communication systems.
As the developer noted, the boat platform is equipped with electric position adjustment, which allows stable operation in difficult waters. The carrying capacity of the platform is about 150 kilograms, which allows you to install a variety of equipment on it for studying water spaces and performing other tasks.
The capabilities of the new boat have already become interested in such large companies as Rosneft and Gazprom, as well as enterprises in the mining industries. Mikhail Danilenko noted that KMZ also plans to develop high-speed servo drives to control the platform.
The KMZ stressed that the Vizir-2M boat is based on the Vizir serial boat and is equipped with a multi-channel control system that allows you to control the ship at a distance of several hundred kilometers. The large capacity of the boat makes it possible to equip it with an electromoving unit with its own electric generator or battery traction.
According to RIA Novosti, in 2023 the holding fulfilled the contract for the supply of six Afalin boats to the Russian Guard, a total of 40 units were delivered. The Ministry of Emergency Situations received 42 PK-500 patrol boats.[1]
Application in the zone of a special military operation
In mid-May 2024, it became known about the first use of the Russian Sea-Free Boat (BEC) in the zone of the special military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. We are talking about the project of engineers "There for fogs" from the Tula region. The project is implemented with assistance of the Russian Defense Ministry.
According to the Telegram channel "Voenkory of the Russian Spring," the declared drone range is 250 km in the base load. In this case, additional fuel tanks can be installed, which significantly increase the travel margin. During the first use of this drone, the military installed 250 kg of TNT explosive on it. In the future, it is planned to increase the volume to 350 kg.
According to the publication "Russian Weapon," the basis for BAEK-kamikaze was the multi-purpose stealth naval drone GRK-700 "Vizir," the body of which is made of radio absorbing materials, and water jet propulsors provide speeds up to 85 km/h.
Such keyless systems can be used to carry out attacks on enemy facilities and infrastructure both at sea and on the coast. In addition, kamikaze drones can be used to inflict fire damage on targets in large river beds. According to the publication "Military Review," Russian BECs are able to effectively act against the port infrastructure through which the Kyiv regime transships weapons, equipment and ammunition.
In March 2024, Izvestia wrote that in the near future the Russian Navy (Navy) will adopt a ship-based kamikaze drone to help repel the growing number of Ukrainian naval drone attacks on warships. A drone capable of launching from the decks of ships and boats can hit both land and sea targets.[2]

Start-up of production
At the end of November 2023, the KMZ holding (Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant) announced the start of the production of the first in Russia non-ship boats (sea drones). The company is going to begin deliveries of these products for the Ministry of Defense by the end of 2023. This will be the first batch of naval drones that will be tested in the zone of the military special operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.
We have already started producing them. The first water jet propellers for such sea drones have been assembled at our production site, "Mikhail Danilenko, managing director of KMZ holding, told RIA Novosti. |
According to him, driverless boats will be able to accelerate to 80 kilometers per hour, as well as carry explosives weighing up to 600 kilograms. The developers conceived that drones transport not only TNT, but also escort and reconnaissance equipment.
It is shallow-seated, flat, with a minimum height above the water surface for low visibility, KMZ managing director said. |
Danilenko also noted that sea drones will be able to work as a platform for an air drone. In general, the company headed by him specializes in the production of boats for Russian power structures.
Keyless drones are actively used by the Ukrainian army. Such devices attacked the Crimean bridge on July 17, 2023. The explosion damaged the automobile part of the bridge, killed two people who were in the car in this place, injured a teenage girl driving in it.
The agency recalls that KMZ is an enterprise of the Russian military-industrial complex. The plant specializes in the creation of boats for the FSB, Ministry of Emergencies, Rosgvardia and other power structures.[3]
Announcement of an unmanned kamikaze boat
Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ) has developed an unmanned kamikaze boat "Vizir" and is now negotiating with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on the supply of such drones. This became known on September 11, 2023.
As the managing director of the KMZ holding Mikhail Danilenko told RIA Novosti, the payload of the boat is about 500 kg with high maneuvering and seaworthy qualities. The hull of the vessel is made of fiberglass, it is possible to equip the Vizir with an electric drive - while the speed will decrease, but the range will increase to 500 km. The basic version is capable of developing up to 80 km/h.
It can be simplified, that is, made smaller, filled with explosives and sent to the target, "Danilenko emphasized. |
The keyless boat can use a return-to-base algorithm that leads it to the evacuation point if intercepted by the enemy. Also, the device is able to deliver troops to the landing point, retreat to a safe distance and approach the landing point for evacuation. As a naval drone interceptor, the boat can use a net for aerial drones, a machine gun, missiles or an electronic warfare system. In addition, it can launch sea and air drones.
As a naval drone interceptor, the Vizir boat can hit it with a missile, a heavy machine gun, an electronic warfare system, and an air drone net. In addition, it can go to the point and launch the drone itself, both sea and air.
Mikhail Danilenko noted that vessels of the Vizir type were delivered to the Baltic Plant for Project 22220 nuclear-powered ships. There they served as traveling boats with ice protection. In total, two Viziers were delivered to the plant. The power of such boats ranges from 150 to 350 horsepower[4]
