2024: Tap-on-Phone Payment Availability
In the free delivery of VkusVill, buyers have another way to pay for the purchase upon receipt. Payment acceptance is carried out with Tap-on-Phone technology, which allows couriers to accept contactless payment using mobile phones as POS terminals. VkusVill announced this on February 15, 2024.
This method is convenient for many points:
- The courier does not need a separate terminal in which it is necessary to control the percentage of charge, and, most importantly, carry the device with you when delivering orders.
- The additional load and responsibility for reconciliation of calculations and timely delivery of checks to the delivery curator is excluded. If the courier accepted the last order using MP with Tap-on-Phone technology, you do not need to return to the darkstor.
- POS terminals are not integrated with the VkusVill system, so the courier must enter the payment amount himself. Payment through Tap-on-Phone is completely sewn into the courier's mobile application, which eliminates errors when manually entering the amount.
- To enter a password when paying on a Tap-On-Phone, the numbers on the screen are in random order, and each time you enter a password, the layout changes. This technology does not allow you to track your bank card and ensures the safety of buyers.
- Tap-on-Phone works from the phone network, thanks to this there are fewer risks of communication failures.
VkusVill began testing the technology in 2023. As of February 2024, this method of receiving payments is available for all couriers with mobile devices on operating system Android NFC with the module. That's over 85%. The company is an active process of switching from a terminal payment method when receiving an order for a new technology.
2023: Pre-order launch in Moscow and Moscow region
On December 15, 2023, VkusVill launched an additional online order delivery service in Moscow and the Moscow Region - pre-orders. This functionality was developed thanks to customers who left feedback and asked to implement pre-orders so that they could plan purchases in advance. The option will provide customers with the necessary products, and distribute the load on darkstores. Pre-order is available to both individuals and legal entities and remains free, as is the main delivery of VkusVilla.
The pre-order option works as follows: in the VkusVill mobile application, the user needs to go to the catalog, go to the delivery time selection section, select the Pre-order option and decide on the appropriate date and time for ordering delicious products.
When ordering products using the Pre-Order service, the catalog and assortment differ from the main delivery. This is due to the fact that only certain food categories are available for pre-order - salads, fruit cuts and cakes "for the whole family" (confectionery, weighing more than 1 kilogram).
In 2022, we noted an increase in appeals regarding the lack of certain products in the assortment on the eve of the holidays. Working ahead of the curve, this year we decided to offer a tool that will allow us to prepare for New Year's Eve and not drown in the hustle and bustle. The day before delivery, the buyer receives a reminder of the order. On the day of delivery, the buyer will receive all normal notifications about the status of the order (assembly-payment and others). The courier will deliver the order to the buyer in the specified slot.
"Pre-order" is available from December 11 to December 30, after the order delivery is carried out in 3-14 days (depending on the selected date). The option is available only to residents of Moscow and the Moscow region, whose addresses are in the zone of work of darkstors. This limitation in functionality is explained by the fact that the project is a test.
Before the New Year, buyers often cannot find an interesting assortment that will decorate their festive table. On December 31, you spend time with your family, walk, watch films, go to a beauty salon (it's time to sign up, by the way!). It's cool that we were able to implement the function in our mobile application, and not develop a separate landing or something else. The development and implementation of the product took 2.5 months. If the service shows itself well and customers like it, we will scale it to the entire range.
