2021: Launch of over-the-counter drug sales
On September 6, 2021, Wildberries announced the launch of sales of over-the-counter medicines, including antihistamines, painkillers, dermatologic, etc. The first partners of the marketplace for this project were the pharmacy chains Samson Pharma and монастырев.рф.
Wildberries visitors were able to buy and receive over-the-counter medicines directly from pharmacies. Courier delivery is carried out within 24 hours, it will be free when ordering from 2 thousand rubles, and when buying for a smaller amount will be no more than 249 rubles. Delivery conditions may vary depending on the city.
By September 6, 2021, the service is available only in Moscow and Moscow Region. It is planned to expand the geography, as well as attract more partner pharmacies.
Wildberries classifies over-the-counter drugs as socially significant goods, so the online platform trade commission is 5% (taking into account acquiring fees of payment systems), the company noted.
On September 1, 2021, amendments to the Rules for Remote Drug Trade entered into force. If earlier a network with at least ten points and its own site could launch a drug delivery service, now these restrictions have been lifted. The concept of "aggregators" and the rules for working with them pharmacy chains appeared in the rules. Pharmacy chains can now, in the event of a contract, place their goods on aggregator sites, and aggregators get the right to accept payment for goods. Aggregator sites should be registered in the permission of Roszdravnadzor issued by the pharmacy chain.
In early September 2021, Yandex.Market began selling over-the-counter drugs. Ordered drugs are delivered in 1-2 hours. The service cooperates with the pharmacies Dialogue, Rigla and Samson Pharma, delivers orders throughout Moscow, and will later launch in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kazan and 10 more cities.
