Windows Marketplace is online store of mobile applications of Microsoft company. It is open on July 27, 2009. The shop accepts requests for placement of applications in shop from the registered developers from 29 countries and also offers prizes for the most popular programs, determining them by such indicators as the number of downloads, income, usefulness and others. The base of clients of mobile applications for Windows Mobile is estimated of about 30 million people.

Competitors

As analysts note, the software giant started own shop of mobile applications to compete with giant App Store from Apple company. Now on App Store more than 65 thousand applications are placed, and the number of users of shop exceeds 45 million people.

Earlier in the market similar services and from other companies - Android Market from Google, App World for smartphones also appeared BlackBerry and Ovi Store from Nokia.
