2022: Opening of the data center

On August 22, 2022, MTS PJSC announced the opening of the Data Processing Center (DPC) in Novosibirsk. According to the company, this is the first modular MTS data center in the eastern part of Russia and the thirteenth in the federal network of data centers of the company. MTS corporate customers in Siberia will be able to use the emerging capacity to migrate IT systems to the # CloudMTS cloud, process and store data, backup, protect against DDos attacks and other business tasks.

The modules were deployed in eight months, which is several times faster than construction classic data centers. The main quality of a modular data center is the ability to scale: the number of modules, racks and payload increase gradually, according to demand. Two modules of 125 racks with a useful capacity of 1800 kW have been launched in Novosibirsk. This is enough to ensure the uninterrupted operation of IT infrastructures MTS:, online billing subscriber service systems, equipment for 3G// networks and 4G5G other technologies. During the year, MTS plans to double the available capacity of the data center and use them to develop the company's cloud products. This modular data center has a CF certificate Tier III from an international organization, which Uptime Institute corresponds to the highest level of infrastructure reliability.

The opening of such objects speaks of the investment attractiveness of the Novosibirsk region. The reliable technical database of the data processing center will contribute to increasing the pace of production and consumption of digital services and the successful use of digital services, "said Yuri Petukhov, First Deputy Governor of the Novosibirsk Region.

According to MTS, the Siberian branch of Kommersant, more than 1.7 billion rubles were invested in the project. It is also noted that at the same time the commercial and corporate use of the infrastructure is provided.

Earlier, the company planned to launch the center in mid-2021, later the date was postponed to early 2022. The construction of the building, according to MTS, was completed in 2021, after which it took time to "re-equip auxiliary premises and equip the territory."

By the end of August 2022, the MTS data center network has 15 geographically distributed data centers, which are connected by their own backbone network with a length of 248 thousand km. Cloud infrastructure has been deployed in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk and Vladivostok.^[1]
