2022: Replacing Intel Self-Service with Chinese
X5 began replacing Intel hardware with Chinese hardware at self-service cash desks. This was announced by the Russian retailer at the end of April 2022. More details here.
2019: Start of production
At the end of August 2019, X5 Retail Group announced the start of production of self-service cash desks. The company independently developed both equipment and software for it.
By the end of August 2019, the retailer is testing 67 cash desks of its own development in 11 Pyaterochka stores. In the future, it is planned that the devices will be in all X5 networks, a decision on the refinement of the devices and their implementation will be made after September 30.
Self-service ticket offices are equipped with a 22.5-inch touch display with full HD resolution, an enlarged 2D scanner with fast recognition of all types of barcodes, a 3D camera (for payment using Face ID technology), stereo speakers and a microphone for sound applications and voice services.
There is no bill acceptor in the devices, so they require collection and allow you to minimize the payment time through cashless payment. The interface of the new generation cash desks is developed on the basis of the design of similar devices in fast food networks that the Russian consumer is already used to using, X5 Retail Group reported.
It is noted that the maintenance and support of new cash registers is much cheaper than market analogues, since the development does not use third-party, but its own serial cash register software - the same as at hundreds of thousands of classic cash registers.
At the second stage of the project, the integration of the weight platform and the installation of software for quick payments through QR codes is planned.
The cash desk interface is based on web technologies and can be used for advertising communication, personal promos and direct interaction with the buyer.
The introduction of easily scalable technology changes the look of the store - it will allow you to serve more traffic with less resources, while saving the time of our customers and improving their consumer experience, "said Ivan Melnik, director of innovation at X5 Retail Group.[1] |
