2018: Applications for multi-function printers based on Xerox ConnectKey

On October 24, 2018 the Xerox company started applications for multi-function printers based on Xerox ConnectKey technology using which it will be simpler to organizations to connect employees to popular business platforms, such as Salesforce, QuickBooks Online and Concur, to manage work with clients, accounting and drawing of accounts and also to optimize other processes. The updated Xerox App Gallery allows to buy and implement applications. with big convenience, claim in Xerox.

Xerox started applications for multi-function printers based on Xerox ConnectKey

As reported in Xerox, the Morrell Group company reduced costs for 25%, having automated process of distribution of products using the Sign Me application. This solution was developed in the MidAmerica Technology company having the status Xerox Personalized Application Builder. The application transfers dokumentoyomky processes to a digital format, accelerating shipment of products.

According to the statement of the developer, printing devices of families Xerox VersaLink also Xerox AltaLink support such applications as:

  • Xerox Connect App for Salesforce — provides access to a customer relationship management system of Salesforce directly via the MFP; allows to load and place information on sales management in client folders, scanning documents directly in Salesforce service.
  • Xerox Audio Documents App — turns paper documents into sound files that allows not to read, and to listen to the text on the run to the mobile employees, fans of audio and people working in the multitasking mode. At the same time reliable data protection is provided.
  • Xerox Connect App for QuickBooks Online — simplifies the process of reimbursement of expenses connected with scanning of a large number of receipts. The application takes from them data in the cost report which together with notifications sends for approval for operational approval. By the end of 2018 the same application will be available to management of receipts to users of Concur.
  • Xerox Forms Manager App — simplifies management of a large number of forms, reducing risks which arise at their filling in paper form. Using integration of QR codes the scanned forms automatically are routed, being distributed to the corresponding e-mail addresses.
  • Xerox Quick Link App — allows to begin to use the printer or the MFP without the address to IT specialists. This intuitive application directly from the printing device sends e-mail with links for installation and connects computers and mobile devices using drivers and settings of a configuration.

Using the ideas which are saved up during the work with consumers in the field of education, the Xerox company created applications which increase labor productivity of teachers and students:

  • Xerox Connect App for Blackboard — opens access to the leading training management system, at the same time documents are digitized and remain in the account Blackboard Learn directly with the MFP.
  • Xerox Proofreader Service — checks the text in English regarding spelling, grammatical, stylistic errors and plagiarism.

According to the developer, the gallery of the Xerox App Gallery applications with a possibility of online purchases not only improves the user experience thanks to the optimized design, but also provides to partners the global platform for promotion and sale of software products. At the same time partners can receive a part of profit from each purchase of the application by clients.

The provided Xerox ConnectKey applications will appear in Xerox App Gallery in certain regions in the IV quarter 2018 — the I quarter 2019.

2013: Premiere of a software platform

In the summer of 2013 the Xerox company provided[1] the software platform of Xerox ConnectKey integrating the MFP controller and a number of applications including for mobile printing and data protection. The complete solution is easily integrated in the existing office IT infrastructure, creating an environment for production and exchange of electronic and paper documents. Its use will allow the companies to reduce time and finance costs by printing, scanning and copying and also it is essential to increase convenience and efficiency of workflows.

Platforms are the cornerstone the universal controller, the operating system and a solution package allowing to unify work with all devices based on Xerox ConnectKey which are switched on in office network. Thanks to them it becomes simplest to create and share documents. All devices working at the Xerox ConnectKey platform have the single interface, advanced address directories which allow to create the Favorites group for easier access to often used contacts and also scanning function "in one contact" and a printability from mobile devices. It simplifies work to users thanks to automation of the standard actions connected with document flow.

Administration of the park of a printing equipment becomes more convenient for IT specialists thanks to a new feature - a panel of remote control which allows to provide remote training of employees, to give technical support in real time and to receive status reports on devices directly from the screen of the PC.

Special attention in the platform is paid to data protection: here three solutions of security McAfee and Cisco earlier unavailable to printers of office level are used.

This system maintains by McAfee Embedded Control integrity of the built-in software of the device by monitoring of system files and the notification on attempts of their not authorized change.

McAfee Integrity Control the Solution supports all opportunities of McAfee Embedded Control and combines them with function of monitoring and prevention of start of not authorized programs. The technology of "white lists" guarantees to McAfee processing on devices only of the safe, previously approved files. This option eliminates need for manual updating of levels of the software for protection against new security risks.

Cisco TrustSec the Solution Cisco TrustSec provides a comprehensive protection of networks and access to important resources thanks to control and observation of all users and also detection and monitoring of devices with support of IP. The compatibility of Xerox ConnectKey with Cisco TrustSec allows to integrate the Xerox MFP into the existing security policies of the organization.

In a basic configuration of the Xerox ConnectKey platform opportunities for control and cost optimization are implemented that it is especially important for owners of business. Thanks to a possibility of setup and access restriction for certain user groups, for example, of restriction for color print or a time limit after which the user cannot use the printing device the owner of business can reduce costs for printing. Also using the Xerox ConnectKey platform any printing device can be compatible to the solution Cisco EneryWise which allows to measure, trace and reduce energy consumption of network devices.

The platform offers the companies a naive approach to document flow optimization. Devices with Xerox ConnectKey act as the central elements of document flow and provide the high performance, profitability and security of the printing environment. They provide to users the new level of work with documents by means of mobile printing and a possibility of sending the digitized documents along a set of routes "in one contact".
