Content

The Xerox Easy Translator portal helps to get machine or professional translation of the text. It is necessary to load the document in any of 38 formats (data for 2016), including JPEG or PDF, to set one of three levels of transfer:

  • "Express" (the machine translation edited by the professional translator),
  • "Professional" (the translator and the editor work on the text)
  • "Expert" (the translation of documents faultless, ready for printing executed by specialists in the field of the selected subject).

For the translation of the document users photograph it and load the picture by means of the application for the Xerox Easy Translator smartphone available to iOS and Android. Ready machine translation goes by e-mail within a minute.

Transfers can be stored in a personal account, in a cloud, with secure access.

Start of service

On November 10, 2016 Abbyy of LS and Xerox provided a cloud service of language translation of Xerox Easy Translator.

Xerox Easy Translator is created on the platform of Xerox ConnectKey 2.0 technology and is available to multifunction printers (MFPs) on the Xerox ConnectKey 2.0 platform, in mobile devices and the web portal.

By means of the MFP on the Xerox Connect platform machine translation of documents is provided. When scanning the document the user specifies target language and receives the translated version[1].

The announcement of cooperation of Xerox and ABBYY in translation of documents

On March 10, 2016 it became known that the copy equipment of Xerox will be on sale with the preset software of ABBYY Language Solutions (ABBYY LS; "subsidiary" of ABBYY). About that Vedomosti was told by the head of ABBYY LS Ivan Smolnikov, information to the edition was confirmed by the representative of Xerox Bob Wagner.

According to the last, Xerox signed the license agreement with ABBYY: it is about the product Xerox Easy Translation Service which is based on language translation technologies of ABBYY.

Software for the translation of texts of ABBYY appeared in the equipment of Xerox

Smolnikov reported that ABBYY developed a cloud platform for document handling by machine translation of the text from 38 different languages. Loading of pages will be performed by three different methods: via devices of Xerox, on the special Internet portal and via the smartphone.

The cost of service of machine translation for corporate users will be from $0.1 to $0.5 for the page while professional translation costs at the price to $0.35 for a word. According to the CEO of ABBYY LS, the new service will help business to save as in half of cases for understanding of the text to the companies of rather machine translation.

Ivan Smolnikov also said that revenue from this project in 2016 should make from $3 to $5 million, and in the following several years — to double. The documents which arrived on transfer via devices of Xerox will generate from 20 to 30% of revenue of service, he noted.

The license agreement between ABBYY and Xerox does not assume a payment for a brand of the American company, however she will draw interest from each translated page, Smolnikov explained.[2]
