2022: Opening Access
On September 23, 2022, the Yandex Cloud cloud platform opened access to Cloud Backup. With it, companies will be able to protect enterprise and client data stored in the cloud from IT infrastructure failures, malware, and respond more quickly to incidents. The service allows you to create full backups of virtual machines and manage schedules for creating and deleting these copies. Cloud Backup works in Public Preview mode, access is free on demand. It can be connected by a button directly from the cloud platform web console.
Previously, Yandex Cloud clients could only create data backups using disk snapshots. In this case, the backup process was configured manually. The user also thought out how to ensure consistency, that is, accuracy and integrity, of copies of data when saving. In Cloud Backup, copies are created without user input, and consistency is provided by a special program - the agent - inside the virtual machine.
Secure storage ensures business continuity. After all, any failure in the company's IT infrastructure can lead to an instant decrease in profit, negatively affect communications with the client, and even cause a shutdown. Cloud Backup complements the portfolio of platform services that help our customers provide comprehensive data protection measures, "said Alexey Bashkeev, head of the Yandex Cloud platform. |
Cloud Backup was developed on the basis of the Cyber Backup Cloud solution of the Russian company Cyberprotect. In this case, all backups created using the service will be stored in the geographically distributed cloud object storage Yandex Object Storage. Like other platform services, Object Storage complies with the international PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) and the highest level of UZ-1 personal data security. The platform also meets the requirements of federal law No. 152-FZ "On Personal Data."
Cloud-based data backup is becoming more popular. According to Valuates Reports, the global cloud backup market will reach $4.229 billion by the end of 2026, with a CAGR of 12.5%.
