2020: Release of the solution SmartSight
On January 16, 2020 the Zebra Technologies Corporation company announced release of the solution SmartSight for intellectual automation. It is designed to optimize work of supermarkets, grocery stores and retail networks and to increase service quality.
According to the developer, SmartSight uses machine vision, machine learning and a mobile system of automation of Zebra EMA50 to detect blank spaces on shelves, mismatch of the prices and violation of the scheme of the calculation. This solution provided on a subscription collects data and immediately sends recommendations to mobile computers of staff of shop for elimination of problems.
SmartSight independently scans regiments and sends tasks to the staff of shop. It allows to resupply quickly on shelves and to provide goods availability at the level of higher than 95%. As a result it is possible to increase the size of a food basket, to achieve uniformity of the prices and observance of the scheme of the calculation. Thanks to the presented solution heads of shop can redistribute on average 65 man-hours a week on other tasks, and employees find more time for work with buyers, but not filling of shelves of shop, the solution designer claims.
As noted in Zebra Technologies, the solution is provided only on a subscription and includes a mobile system of automation of EMA50, a software platform for automation of shop and also service of professional management. SmartSight is integrated into the systems of retail, supporting schemes of sales of BOPIS (online purchases with shipment at own expense from shop) and BODFS (online purchases with delivery from shop).

According to the last research Zebra Global Shopper Study a basic reason of failure of buyers from a visit of shop for benefit of purchases on the Internet are inventory management problems, in particular lack of goods on shelves. This situation is unpleasant not only to buyers, but also sellers. Due to the lack of goods of 39% of buyers leave empty-handed shop, and complaints of buyers for a problem do not allow to work with 43% of staff of shops quietly. Besides, 25% of buyers decide not to buy goods in shop as its price differs from the price on the Internet, and 15% of buyers cannot find the right price label or a discount amount for goods.
According to the statement of the developer, the solution SmartSight of Zebra helps the retail enterprises to increase goods availability in shop and to minimize quantity of cases of the wrong arrangement of price labels. It increases loyalty of buyers and the average size of a food basket.
