2025: Revision of the concept of warehouse reconstruction

AXELOT specialists have prepared the concept of warehouse reconstruction for Firm Imlight-Shoutekhnik LLC. Following the completion of the architectural design, the company sought further advice as the warehouse dimensions in the architectural design changed from those worked out by AXELOT during the process design phase, affecting the dimensions and capacity of the process areas. Axelot announced this on March 27, 2025.

The difference between the length of the warehouse in the architectural project, and the one for which AXELOT was developing a modernization plan, was 8 meters down. By the time the architectural design began, Imlight renegotiated the GPZU and increased the maximum permitted height of the building.

In this regard, Firm Imlight-Shoutekhnik LLC again turned to AXELOT in order to recalculate the process areas of the warehouse, rack systems, warehouse equipment and personnel taking into account the new parameters of the site, since this was much less resource-intensive than making changes to the architectural design.

The revision of the warehouse development plan was carried out as part of an additional stage of the project for the reconstruction of the current warehouse. As a result, the following changes were made:

  • new dimensions of the building are included in the concept of storage complex development;
  • reduced areas of acceptance and storage, in particular, the zone of front racks;
  • one storage tier was added on the front racks;
  • reduced number of storage cells on the front racks;
  • reduced the area occupied by the mezzanine, its design was changed from two to three floors;
  • various versions of storage equipment are proposed, including a lead stacker with a lifting height of up to 6.5 meters and a self-propelled stacker (richtrak).

AXELOT specialists have adapted the previously developed plan for the development of the warehouse complex to a ready-made architectural project. Firm Imlight-Shoutekhnik continues to implement the warehouse logistics upgrade project based on recommendations provided by AXELOT.

2024: Development of the concept of storage facilities reconstruction

AXELOT specialists have developed for Imlight-Showtechnik a concept for the reconstruction of the current warehouse, which will increase storage capacity and form the basis of the warehouse business process automation project. Axelot announced this on October 23, 2024.

Since production and sales volumes are constantly growing, and strategic plans for the development of the company are aimed at expanding the product line, it became necessary to increase the capacity of the warehouse and modernize the warehouse. business processes To prepare a reconstruction project and develop a concept for the development of the existing warehouse complex located in Odintsovo, the management of Imlight-Shoutekhnik turned to experts in the field logistic consulting and technological design of warehouses - AXELOT.

The project perimeter included several logistics infrastructure facilities:

  • Six warehouses in the complex;
  • Roads on the territory of the warehouse complex, on which goods are transported by road;
  • Own fleet of equipment;
  • Ramps and loading and unloading areas adjacent to the warehouses,
  • Vehicle parking lots.

During the work, it was necessary to take into account that in the future a new main warehouse of finished products will appear in the perimeter, which will be used as a single warehouse for picking shipment orders.

The AXELOT project team analyzed the existing warehouse of the customer and revealed the peculiarities of topology, cargo turnover, assessed the number and composition of equipment.

The company's warehouse is overflowing storage cells, selection areas and technological driveways due to lack of space. In addition, when the goods are received in the warehouse, the storekeepers have to manually recalculate the number of units of the goods and mark it, which leads to an increase in the processing time of the incoming products. Difficulties also arise when working with cable products: at the stage of selection for orders, it is necessary to manually cut the cable of the desired length from the spool, which is a laborious process.

Based on the analysis carried out, a concept for the development of the warehouse complex was developed, which provides for a typed technology for storing and processing both manufactured products and goods from third-party suppliers. The proposed option takes into account the location of storage facilities, shunting platforms and parking lots of vehicles, routes of vehicle movement through the territory.

For the warehouse equipment, the area of which will be 1500 square meters, AXELOT proposed to Imlight-Showtekhnik to use a wide-passage storage technology using front, console and shelf racks (mezzanine). This option provides unhindered access to any product, and the use of shelf racks greatly simplifies the selection of goods in orders.

The necessary warehouse lifting and transportation and other equipment was selected - shipping documentation, printers, devices for rewinding cable products. The customer was also advised to consider the possibility of using multi-way trucks that optimally meet the needs for cargo processing, as they allow you to simultaneously work with cargoes on pallets and "oversized."

AXELOT specialists have developed a detailed plan-diagram of the entire warehouse complex of the customer (available 6 rooms), on which they marked all process areas from acceptance to shipment with the arrangement of rack systems. In addition, the need for the number of personnel, equipment and storage systems is determined, the algorithms for performing warehouse operations are described, functional requirements for the WMS solution recommended for managing the main warehouse processes are prepared. The proposed concept allows with minimal capital investments to provide the necessary storage capacity for an increasing cargo flow.

For October 2024, Imlight-Shoutekhnik plans to reconstruct the current warehouse to provide the necessary storage capacity and implement the developed warehouse topology, implement changes in technological processes, and automate key warehouse operations using WMS, which is guaranteed to ensure an increase in the performance indicators of the warehouse and business as a whole. AXELOT recommendations will form the foundation of the project.
