"Elar" digitized the sheets of newspapers "Kronstadt Bulletin" of the 19th century and during the Great Patriotic War

2024: Digitization of eighteen annual sheets of the newspaper "Kronstadt Herald" and "Worker Kronstadt"

Eighteen annual sheets of the newspaper "Kronstadt Herald" and "Worker Kronstadt" (the name of the newspaper in Soviet times) were digitized for the Kronstadt Marine Library in 2024. Elar announced this on May 22, 2024.

The Kronstadt Maritime Library traces its history back to August 10, 1832, when the Naval Library was opened in the premises of the Noble Assembly in Kronstadt. By 1913, the book fund totaled 67,281 names and 110,245 volumes. The library was one of the richest in Russia and was considered the pride of the Baltic Fleet. In May 2024, the library is visited annually by more than 15 thousand people, more than 50 book and art exhibitions are designed, more than 130 cultural events are held for residents of the Kronstadt district of St. Petersburg. One of the important activities of the institution in recent years is the digitization of valuable publications and ensuring access to them by a wide range of users.

So, in 2024, the specialists of the ELAR corporation digitized the annual sheets of the Kronstadt Herald newspaper for most of the period from 1880 to 1894 (13 annual sheets), and electronic copies were also created for the issues of the Rabochy Kronstadt newspaper during the Great Patriotic War: 5 annual sheets were digitized for the period from 1941 to 1945.

Earlier in 2022, ELAR forces for the Kronstadt Marine Library digitized earlier issues of the Kronstadt Herald for part of the period from 1863 to 1879. In total, 29 annual newspaper sheets with great local history value have been digitized, the library notes.

ELAR planetary scanners provided careful scanning and completely eliminated harmful effects on paper originals. From the obtained electronic images, ELAR specialists collected PDF books on sheet sets.
