AvtoVAZ implemented the SAM project

On January 31, 2017 the independent Russian consulting company ITERBI announced project completion of SAM in PJSC AvtoVAZ.

Project Tasks

In AvtoVAZ company date of termination of the agreement of Microsoft Enterprise Agreement Subscription therefore before consultants of ITERBI there was a task to carry out the SAM Baseline project and to provide the accurate information on the current provision of IT infrastructure, the recommendation about further licensing and choice of the suitable program of corporate licensing approached.

Proceeding from development perspectives, inventory of infrastructure of Microsoft, identification of a current status of the unrolled software and its compliance to the rights and licenses, assessment of level of system effectiveness of SAM taking into account the rules applied in the organization, procedures and tools and also development of strategy of licensing at prolongation of the license agreement became a project objective of SAM.

Project Progress

Experts of ITERBI developed a special technique of carrying out inventory of the equipment and the software. During the project infrastructure was selectively inspected: on the pipeline, in information center, in departments of design, planning and accounting.

The number of the workstations inspected within the project was more than 10000 pieces. From a total quantity of workstations more than 1300 pieces of specialized devices on the Windows platform were selected. These automated jobs are in workshops and are used on the pipeline.

To the SAM project in AvtoVAZ company the management tool infrastructure of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager was unrolled partially, there were computers out of the domain that complicated control and management of all infrastructure. Experts of ITERBI recommended to cover all infrastructure of the company means of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager for control automation by licenses. According to the results of a complete and detailed inventory of the park of machines and assessment of a maturity of processes of SAM in AVTOVAZ company experts of ITERBI managed to define the license status of the company and to develop recommendations about cost optimization on acquisition of software and also on improvement of processes of management of program assets — SAM.

In a project deliverable for increase in availability of applications the client purchased new solutions, such as Office365. The decision on use of Azure for reducing costs for maintenance and service of databases was made.
