The Cisco company jointly with the authorized partner of Systeminvest Ltd completed the project on equipping by the equipment Cisco Smart Grid of the new hydroelectric power station entering "the Cascade of the Kuban HEPS". Egorlyksky GES-2 was built at the settlement of Levoyegorlyksky in 2010 for the purpose of providing Stavropol Krai with the electric power. The solutions of Cisco selected as the infrastructure telecommunication platform will provide proper functioning of intellectual communication IP infrastructure on hydroelectric power station.
The project was implemented by specialists of Systeminvest Ltd. They installed specialized routers and Cisco switches for managing networks of hydroelectric power station that will allow to put into operation communication components of Smart Grid technology. As a result of the implementing solutions Cisco on hydroelectric power station the system of inside communication including the IP telephony, loudspeaker communication, a trunking radio communication, data transmission systems in corporate network of "the Cascade of the Kuban HEPS", telecommunication infrastructure for data exchange of security systems (technology and security video surveillance) and two independent communication channels of the HEPS with regional dispatching office of Stavropol Krai for data transmission and dispatching telephony was organized.
The complex of the routers and Cisco switches developed for the solutions Smart Grid will allow hydroelectric power station to increase reliability of power supply due to operational identification and the analysis of failures with simultaneous reduction of time of reaction. The solution Cisco Smart Grid represents a highly reliable scalable communication network, and its use will help operation personnel of hydroelectric power station and "the Cascade of the Kuban HEPS" quicker and more effectively to detect, localize, diagnose and correct non-staff situations. Use of the equipment Cisco together with the equipment and the technology software of production of LLC NPP Mikronika will provide creation on Egorlyksky GES-2 of safe communication infrastructure for transfer, representation and the analysis (in the mode close to real time) to information arriving from a set of the electronic devices installed in the territory of hydroelectric power station. At further implementation a component of the concept Smart Grid on other objects of generation and also on power grid objects and also at end consumers it will give the chance to manage electric power transmission and the distributing capacities and also to raise an electric power delivery reliability due to operational detection, isolation, diagnostics, and sometimes and automatic fault recovery.
