On March 31, 2020 the Netapp company reported that it became the prime vendor of solutions for studio 3Lateral: the companies in the field of creation of "digital people". This cooperation will allow to apply data to creation of realistic human characters for video games, movies and in wider context for industrial and AI-applications. 3Lateral, belonging to Epic Games company, develops the concept of digital people, and the characters created by it became heroes of the games and movies mentioned by numerous awards.

Creation of a digital clone requires deep understanding of all aspects of human appearance and the movement, they reflect our inner self and tell our story. Creation of realistic models which can be managed in real time became possible thanks to in work of the huge data arrays collected by studio using the special scanner of the person which capacity will reach 1 PB for a session in the nearest future. Several commands 3Lateral, using the user software and cloud environments, create realistic models and scenes using these data. The pipeline of data should be combined with project requirements, including hardware, the software and technologies of synthesis.

Data Fabric developed 3Lateral and NetApp on the basis of the AFF and FAS platforms allows not only to solve the current problems, but also meets all requirements connected with further product development, need of data storage and a possibility of change of workloads. It provides easy access to the petabytes of data covering different basic technologies. Preparing for the large-scale requirements to performance of systems expected in the future, commands experiment with improvement of the Data Fabric using NetApp Memory Accelerated Data (MAX Data). Integration can be expanded further at the expense of hyper convergent infrastructure (HCI) from NetApp and Netapp Kubernetes (NKS) services that will allow studio to optimize and accelerate development process.

In 3Lateral consider that further data storage density will only grow, and Vladimir Mastilovich is going to develop the platform which will allow people to create applications in the industries beyond the scope of show business. Their broad application in medicine, biometrics and researches is possible. For this purpose Mastilovich considers the possibility of increase in cloud capacity 3Lateral on a case of peak loads in the future. According to him, the strategy of Data Fabric is "the road to a cloud".
