Divisions of design institute are equipped by all necessary for effective implementation of activity - process buildings and constructions, automobiles and communications, the modern equipment, devices, computer systems, the specifications and technical documentation, software tools of computer design. Today, you will surprise nobody with universal use of computer means for creation and distribution of the project documentation any more. But the number of digital design data which is sharply increasing every year becomes a big problem for major engineering firms (drawings, 3D models of objects, etc.) which require not only the structured and reliable storage, but also daily use according to those business rules which are admitted to the organizations. Especially important it for those organizations which started design quality management system implementation.

Today requirements of customers increase: diagram of documentation release very tough, deadlines. With respect thereto strength of work increases and requirements to an enterprise information system which is designed to save designers from many routine processes and to provide to the management more efficient instruments of accounting and process management, both design, and documentation release according to agreements raise. The quality management system operating at the enterprise corresponding to GOST P ISO 9001-2001 also required a peculiar embodiment of the postulates put in it in the system of automated management of design data which would be executed accurately and strictly by all project participants.

Such opportunity is also provided by the PRODOC system developed by PSS company (St. Petersburg). PRODOC includes the storage of design data protected from unauthorized access, the system of routing of digital data and a management tool projects and works that in the amount provides effective control over the main development stages of the project documentation.

For the purpose of improving competitiveness in the market of project services and ensuring compliance to the new increased requirements of intensive design processes the management of the organization "711 Voyenproyekt" made the decision on implementation of the progressive computer technologies of design implemented in an electronic document management system of PRODOC.

PSS company not only performed delivery and system implementation of management of project documents of PRODOC, but also executed "pilot project" directly in the project organization. The pilot project included:

• inspection of the enterprise,
• development of the Standard of the Enterprise for work with the PRODOC system of each category of users (engineers, GIPY, heads, service of archive),
• training of chief specialists in all sections of the issued project documentation,
• trial operation of a system on the specific project

After a successful completion of a pilot project and implementation of SUED PRODOC, JSC 711 Voyenproyekt unrolled a system at all enterprise. At the moment more than 130 jobs of designers and heads of all main departments of institute are put into operation on projects through a modern electronic document management system which simplifies work of designers, improves communications between departments and increases management efficiency.
