Artificial intelligence prevented an emergency in the Glazov water supply system in Udmurtia. This was reported on December 1, 2022 by RIR (RuSat Infrastructure Decisions).

The information system Digital Vodokanal, developed by RuSat Infrastructure Solutions JSC (RIR, part of Rosatom State Corporation), installed in the city, recorded anomalies in water consumption on time and sent a signal to dispatch services. As a result of the inspection of the designated area, the repair team discovered a leak that could later lead to a serious accident on the pipeline.

The Digital Vodokanal system is designed for control, monitoring and dispatching of technological and production processes of water supply enterprises. The solution allows to improve the quality of services for the population, including by reducing interruptions in the provision of utility resources, reducing the time of repairs. In addition, Digital Vodokanal increases the economic and managerial efficiency of enterprises. As of December 2022, the system is used in Glazov, Belgorod region, Voronezh region and other regions.

The Digital Water Channel information system uses elements artificial intelligence based on. algorithms machine learning Analysis data and comparison with mean values reveal losses, water leaks and warn of emergency situations. One of the major accidents was averted in late November 2022. At one of the pumping stations, abnormal water consumption was recorded by connected objects. Based on the analysis of the data, the system determined that the largest number of deviations was recorded at certain addresses, and assumed the place of leakage. Responsible employees have received appropriate notifications in the system. A subsequent round-up revealed that the leak was indeed on a pressure pipe near homes at the address and, having detected it in a timely manner, prevented a consumer outage emergency.

The use of artificial intelligence in the Digital Vodokanal system makes it possible to both prevent emergency situations and generally reduce water losses resulting from dilapidated networks or illegal connections.

The volume of losses in the system can be approximately 20-30% of the total volume of pumped water, in some cases it can reach 50%. Often, resource-supplying organizations do not have automated tools to increase the efficiency of work with losses by an order of magnitude - expensive measures to modernize and repair networks are carried out in those areas where there is maximum need and urgency to ensure reliable and uninterrupted resource supply to residents. Using the technologies of Digital Vodokanal, you can reasonably answer the question of how much water losses in the system, whether there are water losses in pipeline sections, which sections of pipelines on the network deserve special attention for an audit for leaks, - said Viktor Rubezhnoy, head of Digital Resource Support at RuSat Infrastructure Solutions JSC.
