As it became known on January 18, 2021, Algeria bought 500 thousand doses of the Russian vaccine against a coronavirus COVID-19 "Satellite V". The batch of medicines will come to the North African country until the end of a month.
As soon as there arrives the first batch, we will begin vaccination at once. In the country about 8 thousand medical aid stations where it will be possible to do vaccination are already prepared. If necessary this number can be increased — the official representative of committee on tracking of a coronavirus Gamal Furar in a conversation with the Algerian radio station Chaine 2 said. |
According to him, the authorities are going to impart up to 60-70% of the population to achieve collective immunity. It is not going to vaccinate children.
On January 10, 2021 Algeria registered the vaccine "Sputnik of V", having become thereby the first African country which made it. The delivery contract of medicine to Algeria was signed in December, 2020. The financial component of this agreement did not reveal.
Gamal Furar noted that by January 18, 2021 the authorities conduct negotiations and with other producers of vaccines.
As of January 17, 2021 in Algeria nearly 104 thousand cases of infection with a coronavirus, including 222 for the last day are registered. In total 2836 people, including five patients for the last day died of COVID-19 in the country.
On December 14, 2020 the Minister of Health, the population and medical reform of the country of Abderrakhman Benbuzid said that vaccine against COVID-19 it will be obligatory free for all categories of the population. He also noted that Algeria will adhere to careful approach to the choice of the vaccine against a coronavirus.
In addition to Algeria, the vaccine "Sputnik of V" was registered in Paraguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Serbia, Palestine and Venezuela. Until the end of January, 2020, as expected, ten more of the countries, including India and Brazil will be added to this list.[1]
