On March 26, 2018 it became known that the Softline company estimated readiness of Osnova Holding group for upgrade of a server framework. According to forecasts of experts, the customer can reduce costs on a third and increase machine output.
For the purpose of upgrade of a server framework the Osnova Holding group needed to carry out the overview of the used software, to analyze infrastructure and to optimize it, having brought into accord with business objectives. The partner for this purpose selected Softline which specialists have experience of projects implementation in Software Asset Management and cloud computing.
The command of Softline carried out the overview more than 400 PCs and 30 servers at offices of the customer in Omsk and Ulan-Ude. Virtual infrastructure in the company is unrolled based on solutions of VMware. Metrics of capacity of the separate server hardware showed high degree of its load – 90% - and deficit of disk space for data storage. Operation of the hardware of infrastructure to the limit bears risk of loss of crucial data without a possibility of their recovery.
Besides, the current situation required purchase of a large number of the licenses Windows Server of edition Standard. Specialists of Softline suggested to replace them with edition Datacenter as it allows to start unlimited number of virtual machines on a host that will reduce licensing costs only of the server software by 30%.
The carried-out overview confirmed need of carrying out upgrade and review of the principle of the organization of infrastructure in general. The customer agreed with the recommendation of expediency of creation of cluster infrastructure that will increase machine output.
| "Thanks to the project we learned how to reduce costs and to increase efficiency of IT services. Performance review of the server hardware allowed not only to detect the most loaded points in infrastructure, but also to prepare detailed calculation of expediency of the project on upgrade for the management of group. The project allowed to reveal not used or inefficiently used software, to reduce licensing costs that gave economy from the planned costs for 7 million rubles".
