BGTU of Shukhov implements technologies of virtualization and changes a mail system

On March 6, 2014 the Softline company announced project completion of creation of multi-layer information systems and to implementation of a hardware-software cluster of virtualization by request of BGTU of V.G. Shukhov.

Project Tasks

Development of an IT landscape for university and three of its branches - one of the priority directions. The management of BGTU set the task - to construct the safe innovation infrastructure based on technologies of virtualization. The solution should provide possibilities of group interaction of remote and local users by e-mail, video and a voice communication.

The partner in the project - Softline company, it won the tender for delivery of services.

Project Progress

Within the project in BGTU private "cloud" on the basis of the failover cluster created on the platform of products of IBM and Microsoft is unrolled.

Computing resources are consolidated by the technological solution. There is a scaling option, if necessary - performance improvements, high degree of continuity and availability of systems is provided.

For corporate mail, taking into account specifics of communicating processes and the customer's wishes, the hybrid circuit of deployment of the Microsoft Exchange 2010 server at which mailboxes of staff of the university are stored on local servers in private "cloud", and mailboxes of students (more than 16 thousand) - in public "cloud" of Exchange Online is selected. Using the single console management of a local and cloud part of the Exchange mail server and routing of mail in hybrid "cloud" is provided.

"Annually several thousands of students who need to be provided with access to modern communication technologies go to our university. The scheme of the mail solution offered by specialists of Softline company and implemented by them qualitatively and in time will increase flexibility of management and will provide to a large number of students and teachers an opportunity to use communication services - without considerable load of local servers", - Alexander Belousov, the head of department of informatization of BGTU of V.G. Shukhov noted.
