Burger King implemented a biometric time recording based on BioSmart

On December 18, 2017 the Prosoft-Biometrics company, the owner of the BioSmart brand, announced project completion on system implementation of a biometric time recording in the Russian network of restaurants "Burger King".

A system will recognize the staff of restaurants according to the drawing of veins of palms that excludes a possibility of errors and falsifications. The solution allowed not only to automate maintaining the sheet, but also significantly raised labor discipline. At the same time wage fund was reduced by 15%.

Before project implementation the personnel of network of restaurants "Burger King" used standard plastic cards which can be forged or transferred to other persons easily. At system implementation of a time recording the technology of identification for the drawing of veins of palms having several advantages was selected. First, it is one of the most exact and at the same time rather inexpensive biometric methods (probability of an error of 0.00006%). Secondly, identification happens without contact, so, a system is hygienic. Thirdly, recognition does not depend on humidity of hands, pollution, cuts and callosities. At last, in the opinion of personnel the procedure of scanning of the drawing of veins looks not so unpleasantly as delivery of fingerprints.

The Russian producer under the BioSmart brand became system provider of accounting. The customer highly appreciated possibilities of the company on customization of a product. The developed earlier boxed solution in the shortest possible time was adapted for business needs of Burger King. Some wishes were implemented literally during few weeks. As a result in six months the functionality of the biometric BioSmart PV-WTC terminal was finished by the built-in video camera and the POE interface. The device has the dust and water tight IP65 body that allows to use it to a kitchen zone. The software of Biosmart-Studio for collecting, storage and unloading of data in an external ERP system for the purpose of payroll was included in the delivery.

With accounting system implementation each employee of network of restaurants at the beginning and the end of a working shift should apply a palm to the biometric scanner — on identification no more than 2 seconds leave. In parallel with the help of the camera a system fixes that the person is dressed in overalls and is ready to work (before the late employees tried to be registered in outerwear). Data on marks of personnel are transferred to the central server with the maximum delay to 5 minutes. Changes can be made to the sheet only within a day with the application of all necessary supporting documents.

The project is implemented at 510 restaurants of network across all Russia and received fast payback. As a result of installation of a biometric system wage fund was reduced by 15%, labor discipline grew. In remote branches fraud cases from managing directors came to light, for example, payroll to "dead souls". Besides, the automated system controls observance of the Labor code concerning minors (the four-hour working day), excludes errors when charging holiday and hospital. Also a system fixes visit of courses of corporate training at offices of the company that allows to keep the automated account of the programs passed by employees.
