At the end of October, 2019 it became known about the solution of Bureau of a population census (U.S. Census Bureau) to buy a large number of IOS-DEVICES of Apple. The chief financial officer Luca Maestri told it about it at the conference devoted to the publication of the quarter reporting of the company.

According to him, smartphones iPhone and tablets iPad will be used by department for carrying out a population census in 2020. It is supposed that thanks to gadgets it will be possible to increase the accuracy of the collected data and to improve management of them.

The bureau of a population census makes fundamental changes to planning and carrying out a census next year. It pursues the aim to receive qualitative results and to cut down expenses due to use of mobility, the user opportunities and confidentiality which are in iOS — Maestri said.

He noted that the Bureau through CDW company and the financial Financial Services Apple platform will begin to use "hundreds of thousands" of devices of Apple for implementation of "the innovation model of collecting and data management of a population census".

The census is conducted to the USA since 1790 each 10 years. In the 2020th year it will take place already for the 24th time. It should cover about 143 million households. Participation in a census is obligatory, and contents of schedules — confidential.

Results of a census will be provided to federal bodies by December 1, 2020, and authorities of states — at the beginning of 2021. These data are necessary, in particular, for change of borders of constituencies at elections to the House of Representatives of the Congress and to legislative assemblies of separate states.[1]
