On March 5, 2019 the company Software AG together with Telstra announced the conclusion of the partnership agreement. Its purpose — creation of the digital solution for water use automation. For project implementation the solution constructed on IoT- the Telstra platform and Cumulocity IoT- Solution Accelerator for Water Management is used. It will allow utility companies to analyze quickly information obtained from counters and to cut down the expenses connected with water supply to consumers.
According to the company, the pilot version of the solution is unrolled in the water supplying Busselton Water company servicing farms of Western Australia. The project is started together with Telstra company.
Questions of preserving and control of water resources are in number of absolute priorities of many countries, cities and remote territories. And we are glad to help with solution development, completely focused on accomplishment of such tasks. Together with Telstra company we test the solution on the basis of Cumulocity IoT deployed in the Busselton Water company which is engaged in water supply in Western Australia. Having integrated digital counters, special pressure sensors and Telstra NB-IoT network with our analytical solution of Internet of Things, we can offer complete water resources management in a service format. The solution allows to collect available data on a pressure level and volume of consumption from digital counters of water and also to browse notifications about differential pressures. The arriving information is processed by means of the IoT Telstra platform and the Cumulocity IoT Accelerator accelerator deployed in a cloud. Proposes the solution tools, ready to use, for monitoring of all data retrieveds and management of them (and also business rules). Dashboards provide complete idea of the current situation actually in real time.
Using utilities it is possible to add the configured tools and special dashboards on water supply systems to trace other parameters: total consumption on time, the volume of a minimum / maximum / average flow, dynamics of indicators, values of peak and offpeak consumption.
Telstra intends to propose to the companies of utility water supply of Australia this solution as an independent product or within a complex packet of IOT for Intelligent Utilities.
Busselton Water companies where pilot tests are carried out, the solution will help not only to manage effectively a water supply system, but also to optimize energy consumption of water systems of municipal services.
As water becomes a scarce resource, use of digital technologies which help to control better our system and to manage it, will bring huge benefits. They will concern not only questions of preserving of water, but also providing more reliable and less expensive services of water supply to our consumers and business customers. Chris Elliott, Busselton Water |
Telstra and Software AG are glad to work together with Busselton Water on this pilot project. Considering the fact that Busselton Water already uses radio-frequency methods of measurement of water consumption by customers, the company as well as possible is suitable for testing of our solution for water resources management. The solution IOT for Intelligent Utilities of Telstra will allow the water supplying organizations to interpret and use better data which they obtain from the digital counters working in NB-IoT Telstra network. Using tools for data analysis, the collected by our customers, Australian utility companies will be able to save water resources, to increase service quality to reach high business results.
