CEVA - Jungheinrich (PSIwms)

CEVA Logistics GmbH, the logistic enterprise of the TNT Post Group (TPG) group, constructed and operates the European spare parts depot South put into operation in September, 2002 for Jungheinrich company, leading manufacturer of auto-loaders in Lahr, the State of Baden-Württemberg.

On the area of 10140 square meters the two-storeyed gallery of shelf racks from about 97000 warehouse places, three-storyed gallery the shelf system with a capacity of 6816 places and a pallet warehouse with a capacity of 3637 is located. Dangerous loads are stored out of the warehouse. In day CEVA Logistics processes on average 1150 orders from about 4.800 positions – it corresponds in total to ten tons of component parts a day. From more than 40000 products, stored in a warehouse of the last queue  of a complex in. A chest, about 12000 – quickly turned. More than 90% of all movement of goods are the share of them. Opening of a new warehouse of spare parts this producer of the transport equipment pursues the aim of both the all-European centralization of warehousing of spare parts, and operational supply of remote parts of Europe.

Requirements

The management program for the warehouse PSIwms set by PSI Logistics company in Lahr manages a warehouse from 100,000 places in real time and the pipeline for transportation of containers more than 800 m long taking into account use of complex strategy for the placement on storage, collecting of orders and replenishment action. Capacity of this processing system of containers makes about 600 containers per hour. The data transmission system on radio channels with 30 mobile terminals is connected to it. The PSIwms program was specially adapted taking into account different warehouses and clients of CEVA Logistics company. The warehouse center is located in. A chest, in the southern part of Germany while its computer data processing center is located in Mannheim, and clients are also in Dittsenbakh near Frankfurt, and in Nordershtedta in the State of Schleswig-Holstein.

Problem definition and implementation

Short terms of execution, reliable commissioning and centralized operation by a data processing center were important criteria for logistic company CEVA by transfer of the contract of PSI Logistics company. All delivery of PSI Logistics includes development of the detailed design, commissioning and also the contract with CEVA Logistics for maintenance and service.

Interfaces were implemented for connection to the central SAP system, to the subordinated SPS system, to a management system for transportations and also for connection to different other systems, such as system of transportation and system of the hoisting-and-transport equipment of CEVA and also to the system of SAP of Jungheinrich company.

Configuration

PSIwms works on a centralized basis, in a computer data processing center at the server IBM AIX system with Oracle DBMS. Customer relation and the subordinated radio system on places is performed using a virtual private network (VPN). For simplification of remote maintenance of a system at the disposal of PSI Logistics there is a node of dialup access to VPN of CEVA Logistics company.
