CTI: results of implementation of Cisco UCS - servers reduced from 40 to 8

The CTI company became one of the first Russian system integrators which implemented the unified Cisco UCS computing system (Unified Computing System). Cisco UCS allows to create the computing platform of DPC (Data processing center) capable to service the major applications.

For the purpose of work improvement the CTI company in cooperation with Cisco company initiated implementation of the unique Cisco UCS platform. Before implementation of Cisco UCS for creation of network infrastructure of laboratory and a demo in CTI standardly used several managed switches of the 2nd Catalyst 2960 level. In 2010 CTI began tests of the Cisco Unified Computing System system. Results of implementation of the platform by CTI company showed - after start of a new system, the number of the servers required for operational work of the company, was reduced from 40 to 8.

One of tasks of CTI is use of the high-performance computing system and the network platform, thereby Cisco UCS implementation, completely answers the tasks set by CTI company. The main priorities which CTI puts before itself are reduction in cost of network, energy consumption reduction, achievement of transparency of structure of a demo, and laboratory servers.

The integrated Cisco Unified Computing System computing system, switches of the Cisco MDS storage area network and also the VMware vSphere platform are a part of the solution Cisco UCS. The dual-processor and four-processor servers of new generation which were a part of a product portfolio of Cisco UCS contain up to 50 percent more main cores that allows to expand four times memory in comparison with the standard systems. As a result there was simply a management of a data processing center, cost, including due to energy saving is reduced, the free server space increased, and the system of selection of resources of a system is also optimized. The got experience of the company gives the chance to integrate Cisco UCS for solving of tasks of customers.
