Carrefour optimizes logistics using the SAS Viya platform

On January 21, 2019 the SAS company announced ensuring analytical base for optimization of deliveries to Carrefour Group networks. The French company broke to implementation of the large-scale plan for conversion of business and selected for this purpose the SAS Viya platform which involves artificial intelligence technologies. Within 18 months the platform works in the test mode and within the next stage, will be full-scale implemented in Carrefour network. Using modern technologies Carrefour aims to create marketplace for online and offline - trade where buyers will be able to find necessary goods at any time and in any place. To solve this major problem, it was required to optimize supply chains. Experts of Carrefour gave preference to SAS Viya owing to its reliability, security and openness. They note that the platform allows to process large volumes of data that gives the chance quickly and to precisely develop highly specialized algorithms for the solution of specific objectives.

The analytical SAS Viya platform will provide collecting and data processing, received from shops, online stores and from warehouses that finally will allow to build effective multichannel distribution and will help to optimize warehouse stocks. Data analysis will increase forecasting accuracy and will help with creation of orders in a supplier address. In turn, it will allow to reduce risks of overstocking and the shortage of trade inventories and also will reduce volumes of write-off of overdue products and, respectively, waste into which the goods expired turn.
