GE Healthcare delivered to Chukotka the device MRT – SIGNA Creator

On March 22, 2019 the GE Healthcare company of Russia and CIS announced that in August, 2018 to Chukotka the device MRT – SIGNA Creator of production GE Healthcare was delivered.

Modern approaches to diagnostics and treatment of many diseases include an obligatory research using MRT. Main advantage of a method – an opportunity to precisely define localization of pathology and dynamics of changes in process of the carried-out therapy. One more plus of MRT – in lack of ionizing radiation, which to contraindicated a number of categories of patients, including expectant mothers and children. For Chukotka the MRT-scanner created based on the innovative technologies relevant for the remote regions and hardly accessible territories was selected. One of them – so-called, "technology of zero boil-off of helium".

"For maintenance of operating condition as an indispensable component of the equipped MRT serves liquid helium which performs important function of cooling of powerful super-conducting coils of a magnet, providing their stability. Several years ago, so-called, "boil-off" complicated service even of the most "advanced" systems, it was necessary to execute refuellings that is difficult to the remote corners of Russia and very costly. The difference of the modern tomograph is considered, including, and its equipment by technology of "zero boil-off of helium" which allows to minimize need of refueling of the MRT-device expensive gas, to provide effective operability of MRT in the conditions of Far North". As any high-precision medical device, the device MRT – quite fragile equipment sensitive to pushes and vibration, change of temperature condition, an atmospheric precipitation, even normal dust. Therefore transportation of the MRT installations is included into the list of the most complex lifting work. Besides, because of considerable dimensions and rather big weight of the device its loading and unloading requires special technical and lifting means. Despite difficulties, the works were completed, and in August, 2018 the device MRT was installed in hospital.

The Chukchi district hospital is the center of rendering specialized medical care on the peninsula. Here the main health care workforce is concentrated, patients from all region arrive here. GE Healthcare and district hospital is connected by long-term experience of cooperation.

Before arrival of the device in hospital the whole complex of works was carried out: the body is constructed, complex reconstruction of engineering and power supply networks is carried out, durability of overlappings is checked, monitoring of radio-frequency noises and external vibrations is carried out. In the room of MRT the special climatic equipment is installed, and in its walls "Faraday cage" – construction for shielding of installation from outside electromagnetic fields is built in.

After a while after carrying out balancing and commissioning doctors of district hospital already accepted the first patients. Within a year the GE Healthcare command delivering the certified spare parts for the tomograph will advise the physicians working on the device and to perform service maintenance of the device.
