In August, 2016 it became known of great popularity of the clinic which opened in the Olympic village in Rio de Janeiro among athletes and those who help them to act. The Russian Olympians often come for the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), USA Today reports.
According to the edition, this medical center is in the greatest demand among athletes from developing countries at which there are not a lot of opportunities to receive advanced medical care in the homeland in comparison with inhabitants of the developed regions. To participants the Olympic Games were held thousands of inspections, such as check of sight, roentgenogram of teeth and MRT.
By August 11, 2016 stomatology in clinic made 450 x-rays of teeth and created more 300th cap (special pads for teeth for their alignment). Ophthalmologists of 1730 times checked sight and wrote out 1410 recipes on the adjusting points (less than a half inspected did not carry them). Specialists in MRT carried out about 60 scannings daily.
They come literally for everything — the deputy chief physician of the Olympic clinic Marcelo Patricio reported. |
The head of the Latin American division of GE Healthcare (equipment supplier for clinic) Daurio Speranzini says that he did not expect so large number of influx of the American and British athletes as in their countries these technologies in difference, for example, from the African are available.
Sperantsini noted that Russians and Ukrainians most often come for MRT-inspection. Athletes who complain of chronic pains or injuries can expect without problems carrying out MRT, the head of GE Healthcare in Latin America added.
Fortunately, none of athletes addressed because of a Zika virus, Marcelo Patrício said.[1]

GE Healthcare noted that for the first time in the history of the Olympic and Paralympic Games the medical centers opened for them will use the solution Centricity Practice Solution thanks to which access to workflows and consolidation of data for smart and more exact diagnostics is provided. Medical records will be available on all medical posts of Games.
The chief physician of the Olympic Games Joao Granzheyro (João Grangeiro) said that the Olympic clinic will not work at a permanent basis, but it will provide a much-needed impulse to development of the Brazilian health care for many years after the end of an action.
After the Olympic and Paralympic Games medical devices and devices for the amount more than 1.8 million euros from clinic for athletes will be transferred to Rio de Janeiro to municipal hospital Souza Aguiar Hospital.[2]
