Launch of commercial unmanned cargo transportation in MMK

On November 2, 2021, Traft announced the launch of commercial transportation using unmanned trucks on the territory of the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant (MMK).

Traft, which is MMK's current provider of transportation services, together with MMK-Informservice and the United Service Company, assessed the feasibility of using unmanned vehicles to organize intra-plant transportation and increase the efficiency of supply chains.

Unmanned vehicles with a carrying capacity of up to 1.5 tons were launched on October 27 and are used for low-tonnage transportation, which make up more than 50% of road transportation at the plant. As a pilot, the route for transporting refractories is chosen, along which about 150 pieces of equipment move daily, and it is heavily loaded.

The introduction of drones in a complex ON Traft-OnLine using will completely digitize the process and reduce the cost of transportation. In addition, the use of unmanned vehicles provides a completely different level of transparency and safety of transportation, control over movement, transport noted in Traft.

MMK has agreed to launch the operation of unmanned trucks on electric traction EVO-1

In May 2021, an agreement of intent was signed on the launch of the operation of unmanned electric trucks EVO-1 at the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant (MMK). This is a joint project of the enterprise with the companies Traft ( engaged in freight and cargo and passenger transportation, is the current carrier of MMK) and Evocargo (specializes in the development and implementation of logistics services using unmanned vehicles).

For the ride of freight transport without drivers in the territory of the plant required road markings, signs and specially equipped railway crossings. A person is only required to press the start button on the car.

The EVO-1 pilot tests, which took place on the territory of the test center in Moscow, were recognized as successful, no shortcomings were identified.

Traft CEO Arthur Muradyan said that for the implementation of the project, the company finalized its service "Трафт.онлайн," which made it possible to integrate it with the system for obtaining an order by unmanned truck.

As noted in MMK, innovation in logistics is part of the long-term development strategy of the plant along the path of digital transformation. Unmanned trucks are an important component of efficient logistics processes. The use of drones will allow MMK to reduce risks and transportation costs, make them safer and, which is very significant, environmentally friendly, since cars operate on electric traction, according to the company.

Evokargo CEO Andrei Bolshakov expressed confidence that "projects such as at MMK are approaching the future, in which unmanned transportation will become the prevailing way to transport goods." According to him, MMK and Traft in this project act as visionaries who contribute to the technological progress of the entire industry, showing an example of how advanced innovations can benefit business. Other companies will soon follow suit[1]

Agreement on pilot operation of EVO-1 drones

Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant"," transport the company Traft and the company "" Evokargo agreed on pilot operation in the territory of the mill under a tripartite contract. drones EVO-1 This was reported on March 29, 2021 in Traft.

EVO-1 drones will be launched in MMK

The introduction of the car into pilot operation on the territory of MMK is planned in May 2021. The test launch was carried out on March 18. A fleet of three EVO-1 unmanned trucks traveled offline at a given speed, independently tracking road signs and markings. All that was required of a person was to press the start button located on the panel on the side of the car. No shortcomings were revealed during the movement of the drone. All participants in the test run were satisfied with the results of the trial and expressed confidence in successful further cooperation.

The project participants held a round table during which issues related to the organization of the permanent movement of unmanned trucks in the territory of MMK were discussed. So, a prerequisite for the successful implementation of the project is the preparation of the territory in which the movement of drones will be carried out. The open question remains the presence of a railway crossing on the territory of MMK, which makes it difficult to move trucks. However, according to Evocargo engineers, this issue will soon be resolved. Road markings, signs, as well as storage conditions for drones should fully comply with the established standards. Subject to them, Traft and Evocargo guarantee the successful implementation of unmanned systems inside MMK.

"Innovation in logistics is part of MMK's long-term development strategy towards digital transformation. I am sure that unmanned trucks will be an important component of effective logistics processes, will reduce risks and transportation costs, make them safer, "said Vladimir Zeitin, director of ATU LLC (Motor Transport Directorate). - It is important for us that these are electric cars - environmental friendliness of this solution is important for MMK. EVO-1 trucks are a finished Russian product for operation in real conditions. This is confirmed by the expert assessment of partners from Traft. We have high hopes for this project. "

"This project would not have been possible without the introduction of advanced technologies of Evocargo. For our part, we have finalized the customer service Traft.online, which made it possible to integrate it with the system for receiving an order by unmanned truck. Our customers will be able to order not only ordinary types of vehicles, but also EVO-1 directly from this service, "said Traft CEO Arthur Muradyan. According to him, such decisions will soon become a new standard in logistics.
