Committee of the general and professional education of the Leningrad Region (M2M-Cyber GLX)

By the beginning of educational 2012 educational institutions of the Leningrad Region will be entered by new school buses with GLONASS equipment.

Technical support of a monitoring system of school transport will be performed by GLONASS Northwest company, the regional partner of M2M Telematics group.

The project is implemented at the initiative of Committee of the general and professional education of the Leningrad Region within the long-term target program "The Priority Directions of Development of Education of the Leningrad Region for 2011 - 2015". The new batch of the buses which were purchased for transportation of school students will be equipped with GLONASS terminals and buttons of the emergency response to accidents and other non-staff situations. For monitoring of the movement of buses in each of areas the dispatching center will be organized.

Now in the Leningrad Region the equipment of GLONASS equips about 25% of school buses. The project is implemented since spring of 2010, then the navigation and coherent equipment of GLONASS equipped 8 school buses in the Kingisepp district.

In total in Russia about 30000 school buses. Now the equipment based on the GLONASS satellite technologies equips about 9000 units of school transport. The Ryazan region is the only region of the Russian Federation in which GLONASS is equipped with the equipment all transport transporting school students.
