''DHL takes the leading position in the world market of the international innovation services in express delivery and logistics provided "first-hand" and also is the leader in the field of sea cargo transportation, contract logistics and supply chain management.

In Greven, near Muenster, the international network DHL Exel Supply Chain, the specialist in contract logistics of Deutsche Post World Net concern, in 2006 created the new logistic center worth about 35 million euros intended for implementation of complex logistics for the supplier of goods of catalog trade - HSE24. The logistic center locates warehouse and delivery zones more than 21.000 sq.m, a rack warehouse on 19.000 pallets, and the automatic overhead conveyor on 60.000 textile products. For ensuring deliveries to clients the zone of sorting and a complete set expected assembly of 5000 sendings per hour is selected. The DHL Exel Supply Chain company transferred the purchase order of a warehouse management system (Warehouse Management Systems) – PSIwms - to PSI Logistics concern that using this product completely to satisfy wishes of clients on implementation of fast deliveries, without regard to daily changing range (more than 3000 articles a day at the total quantity of articles equal 38000).

Logistic processes

Information on a goods receipt from suppliers is transferred to HSE24 to the Logistic Center in Greven where there is an approval of delivery dates and transfer of notifications in address HSE24 on electronic communication channels. In a zone of acceptance the registration of goods based on given notifications of suppliers and client orders is made. After monitoring procedure of quality the goods permitted to sending are placed in an automatic rack warehouse. Data of orders are transferred to night shifts from the system of SAP installed in HSE24, in PSIwms that preparation for completing could begin with formation of an optimal priority of processing of tasks (series).

The further defining aspects for formation of series are, in particular, the different sizes of cardboard boxes necessary for the corresponding orders, time which is required for packaging and necessary additional services. When a series of tasks is created, automatic unloading of goods from a rack warehouse in a complete set zone begins. The cardboard boxes which are previously selected for sending gather mechanically, are glued and automatically go to a complete set zone. Warehouse workers stack previously selected goods in boxes. Each box is several times weighed. At identification of deviations from a task, sending is transferred to section of processing of non-standard tasks where check of a complete set of departure is made. In other cases of sending are sealed automatically, labels are applied on them, then sendings on pipelines come to the next parcel center.

The separate case is represented by quite volume processing of returns that is typical for this field of activity. At a design of returns goods are by the piece checked for compliance to primary client orders, are registered, then there is assessment of each commodity unit, its receipt, and, in case of need, preliminary preparation and repeated acceptance according to classification.

Special functionality of PSI wms

Need of accomplishment of the special demands made by HSE24 and DHL involves the need for such functions as formation of series with the optimized capacity and required then preparation of previously completed batches of certain types of goods for packaging in cardboard boxes with synchronization on time.

When forming series numbering up to 50.000 client orders which gather from daily changing product assortment the PSI Logistics company installs additional components for combinatory optimization.

Result of formation of series – data acquisition about the transportations intended for providing orders with goods including data on additional transportations. At the same time additional movements – including, level, passing through several storage areas and complete sets, using different methods of selection of goods, - are organized so that by the time of the beginning of task performance on preparation of any of boxes goods for the corresponding client order were available.
