Dell uses a blockchain for tracking of the processed packagings

Customers: Dell

Round Rock; Electrical and Microelectronics

Contractors: VMware
Product: Projects based on blockchain technology

Project date: 2019/11

In November, 2019 the Dell company published the report in which told how it uses a blockchain platform of VMware for the tracking of plastic and packing materials intended for processing.

The Asian countries (China, East India, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand) are the main source of pollution of the ocean as they reset from the coast and courts more plastic waste, than the rest of the world combined. Some Asian companies concerned by an ecological situation such, for example, as Dell, possibilities of processing of raw materials use not to reset waste to the ocean or not to dig in to the earth.

Dell published the report in which told how uses a blockchain platform of VMware

Dell has a supply chain of the processed products consisting of aggregators which collect plastic waste, processors and producers who use such processed materials - generally for production of packaging of notebooks of Dell.

In turn, VMware provides a solution blockchain for tracking of such processed plastics. For example, end users who purchased notebooks of Dell can browse origin of the processed material (from what type of plastic it was received and as got to packaging), reported in the company.

The blockchain platform of VMware provides to the company fast transfer of means between aggregators, processors and producers, at the same time attracting new. New technologies are used for this purpose not only by Dell. For example, Plastic Bank also applies a blockchain platform to prevention of hit of plastic to oceans, and also tries to eradicate poverty in the countries of Southeast Asia, tracing and cutting those companies which unethically treat the workers from a supply chain.[1]
