The company "ER-Telecom Holding" on October 6, 2021 announced the results of work in the Tyumen region of a video monitoring system that prevents forest fires at an early stage of occurrence. The trained neural network is able to proactively recognize the source of ignition, determine its coordinates and inform dispatchers.

The Department of Forestry of the Tyumen Region, with the support of ER-Telecom, deployed a video monitoring system in 13 districts of the region. CCTV cameras were placed on the towers of telecom operators and connected to a fiber-optic network. High-resolution devices, thanks to their rotation around their axis, provide 360-degree visibility.

System algorithms determine the presence of smoke, distinguishing it from clouds, fog or dust. In good weather conditions, the viewing range reaches 20 km, which allows patrolling up to 200 thousand hectares of forest using one camera.

The video image in real time arrives at the Regional Dispatch Control Center of the GBU TO "Tyumen Base of Aviation and Ground Forest Protection" and is stored in the archive. Managers also receive automated SMS and push notifications of alarm events.

The system is deployed on the basis of the Forest Guardian digital platform, used as of October 2021 in more than 40 regions of Russia. The platform can be modernized and include: control of drones and other devices, analytical reports, transport control, integration with the Safe City agro-industrial complex and the 112 system, etc.

A key feature of the project is the service model, which eliminates the need for the customer to independently purchase equipment, install and balance sheet, "explained Ilya Vasketsov, regional head of B2G at ER-Telecom Holding JSC. We also provide servicing and replacement of cameras, rental of accommodation, communication channels and other necessary measures for the provision of services. The contract was concluded for 3 years, during which time the customer will not need to perform additional activities related to the maintenance of the video monitoring system and divert existing resources for this purpose. This format of interaction for the implementation of the forest monitoring system was used for the first time in Russia.
