Customers: Severstal-metiz

Metallurgical industry

Project date: 2025/09

The metallurgical company Severstal"" conducted industrial tests of an autonomous rover from a Russian company Droneshub at the enterprise "" in Severstal-metiz, Cherepovets where a robotic device was used to inspect the condition of equipment using gas analyzers, thermal imagers and other measuring devices. Testing of the mobile platform is aimed at increasing the automation of production processes and excluding personnel from high-risk areas. This was reported by the press service of PAO Severstal on September 17, 2025.

The autonomous rover performs a set of functions including the transportation of goods, patrolling the territory with automatic recharging at specialized stations and conducting technical inspections based on computer vision. The device is capable of working offline without the participation of an operator.

Sergey Kovryakov, General Director of Severstal-Metiz, noted the active restructuring of processes at industrial enterprises to increase the level of automation and reduce the number of routine operations among personnel. According to him, the company continues to search for solutions for the use of mobile robots to move small loads in hard-to-reach areas of the production site.

Kovryakov stressed that the use of robotic equipment will eliminate the presence of people in dangerous areas and increase labor efficiency by redistributing routine work. Automation also eliminates related operations for the movement and transfer of goods.

The tests were carried out jointly by experts from Severstal-Infokom and Severstal-Metiza with the participation of representatives of the equipment supplier company. At the site of the calibration workshop, specialists assessed various characteristics of the robotic platform.[1]
