Plan to connect 1000 trucks to an automated driving system

PEC will connect 1000 trucks to an automated driving system. The company signed a corresponding agreement of intention with the developer of innovative Russian technology BaseTracK Logistics SF - the company BaseTracK, reported June 23, 2021 in the PEC.

File:Aquote1.png
This will be the first mass commercial use of automated driving systems in Russian freight transportation. The goal of the project is to increase safety, reduce the dependence of transportation on the human factor, as well as optimize the cost by 10-20%, - said representatives of the PEC.

The BaseTracK SF product is a system that recommends the driver optimal actions during the movement of the truck. The technology relies on: geoinformation data creates "" digital double roads, inside it is laid by a "virtual rail," which recommends the driver how to move as efficiently as possible in each section.

Trucks using our technology do not need specially equipped roads. Savings are achieved through the use of truck inertia and harmonization of traffic. At the same time, traffic becomes safer, the number of car breakdowns is noticeably reduced and fuel consumption is significantly reduced, "said Andrei Vavilin, Director General of the BaseTracK.

PEC has already tested the Russian technology BaseTracK Logistics SF - first on three trucks, and then started commercial transportation on 10 trucks on federal roads. Results - fuel economy by 10% of the standard.

In addition, since March 2021, the PEC has been testing cargo transportation with the transfer of the gas pedal control system on the M-11 Neva highway. This is the next step - traffic automation.

BaseTracK Logistics SF technology is not the only traffic automation system that the PEC is testing. Also, the transportlogistic provider conducted a series of experiments on unmanned cargo transportation based on the prototype. EVO-1

File:Aquote1.png
The maximum effect of the operation of drones is achieved thanks to the synergy of telemetry data processing technologies and autonomous cargo vehicles, "said Oleg Skovorodnikov, Director of Digital Transformation at PEK .
File:Aquote2.png

EVO-1 testing took place at the closed site of the PEC logistics hub in Butovo. The cargo platform moved between two warehouses along a route of 170 m in one direction. With the declared need for PEC for the transportation of 33 pallets per day, the drone transported up to 47 pallets weighing 4.6 tons. The number of flights made per day ranged from 4 (at launch) to 20.

According to the results of the project, the PEC came to the conclusion that the use of drones between warehouses in a closed territory can increase the speed of cargo movement by 20%. However, so far, the savings in testing drones are offset by the need for the services of dispatching engineers who remotely control the EVO-1 movement process.

It is possible to reduce the cost and increase the speed of movement due to a more detailed study of the interaction of the drone with infrastructure and other vehicles. For example, according to the results of the experiment, the PEK determined that the optimal time for EVO-1 to work in this warehouse complex is a night when traffic in the hub is less dense, but it is at this time of day that the largest volume of cargo is shipped to the warehouse.

One of the key achievements of the project is zero accident rate, "said Oleg Skovorodnikov.
File:Aquote2.png

File:Aquote1.png
The drone moves so as to avoid any accident, and misses other vehicles, even if the driver violates traffic rules. Because of this, the average speed can decrease from 10 km/h to 3.5 km/h. It can be increased by introducing traffic restrictions on the route, including parking, as well as by installing signs and monitoring compliance with traffic rules by drivers of other cars, "explained EvocargoAndrei Bolshakov, CEO of Evocargo.

The PEC sets the task of assessing the effectiveness of unmanned transportation. Key indicators: increased delivery speed, reduced dependence of transportation on the human factor, reduced cost. We plan to use the results of pilot projects in closed territories in the future for autonomous transportation on public roads, "summed up Vadim Filatov, deputy director of the PEK.

Testing Automated Freight Using Virtual Rail Technology

On May 17, 2021, the PEC announced the start of testing of automated freight transportation using the virtual rail technology from BaseTracK. The system builds a digital analogue of the route, which takes into account the features of the relief, turns and other nuances, intelligent road infrastructure is not required. This allows you to go in autopilot mode and control the movement of the truck regardless of weather conditions.

Tests take place on flights along the M-11 highway. For them, the Renault T truck of Avto-PECK was chosen. At the wheel is a test pilot - a specially trained driver.

Two test stages are provided. At the first stage, acceleration is transmitted to the BaseTracK system - gas pedal control, but the driver continues to control the wheel independently. The algorithm calculates at what speed the car should move on each section of the road. The mileage plan for the first stage is about 200,000 km. It is expected that the introduction of acceleration management technology will reduce fuel consumption to 20% depending on the season and weather conditions.

According to the head of the BaseTracK, Andrei Vavilin, various situations on the road are being worked out, the work of all car systems is being tested, and the commercial effectiveness of the technology implementation is being analyzed.

[[:Шаблон:Quote 'Technology increases traffic safety, minimizes the dependence of transportation on the human factor and saves fuel, "said Andrei Vavilin.]]

Commercial implementation of the autonomous acceleration management system is expected in the first half of 2022.

The second stage of testing is complete automation, that is, the transfer of steering control to the system while driving along the highway. In parallel, the reliability of the system is studied, as well as the physiological and psychological state of the driver during automated movement. The implementation of the second stage will begin in the second half of 2021.

For PEC, the most important task is to increase the efficiency of freight transportation and, as a result, the quality of service. To do this, the company uses various tools, including technology developed by our partner - the company BaseTracK. We expect that the system will help reduce the influence of the human factor on transportation and optimize its cost, "said Vadim Filatov, deputy director of the PEK.

2020: Improvement of the fuel monitoring system

The First Expeditionary Company (PEK) will improve the fuel control system and test the "virtual rail" technology from the Russian developer of unmanned driving systems on public roads. BaseTracK This became known on November 26, 2020.

We are talking about the patented software in the Russian Federation BaseTracK Logistics SF, the parties have already concluded a product delivery contract.

The technology allows you to adjust the driving style taking into account weather conditions, the state of the highway, as well as the nature and weight of the load. The key task is to reduce fuel consumption.

The "virtual rail" relies on geographic information data, while optical sensors and sensors are not used for localization in space. As a result, the solution is all-season, and it can be applied outside the so-called "smart roads."

The program itself forms a complete instruction on the movement of the truck and broadcasts it on the driver's smartphone screen. It is compiled using codes and algorithms that in the dynamics take into account the technical characteristics of the track, vehicle, cargo and weather conditions.

File:Aquote1.png
At the same time, since the "virtual rail" is tied to a previously created "digital tunnel" or route, poor weather conditions or the absence of objects on the ground do not affect the movement of the car, "explained the founder of the BaseTracK Andrei Vavilin.

In the structure of the freight tariff, the share of fuel costs reaches an average of 30-40%, said Dmitry Ievlev, general director of Avto-PEK. At the same time, on average, since the end of 2019, the cost of diesel fuel has already increased by 1.2%.

File:Aquote1.png
- In this regard, the key task of the PEC is internal optimization, including through the introduction of IT solutions that allow you to control the manner of driving and fuel consumption, - explains Dmitry Ievlev.
File:Aquote2.png

BaseTracK Logistics SF solves two problems: organizes a system for safe driving and training the driver in energy-efficient traffic, which leads to a significant decrease in fuel consumption, said Andrey Vavilin. According to his estimates, fuel consumption savings can range from 3% to 10% depending on external conditions, which include the state of the route, weather, and so on.

To begin cooperation with BaseTracK, it is supposed to equip telematic devices with trucks involved in long-distance cargo transportation. On the federal routes M-11, M4 and M7, "virtual rails" have already been laid along which trucks will move. At the same time, there is no need to use digital road infrastructure: traffic sensors, photos and video cameras, weather sensors, electronic road signs. At the first stage of transportation, "manual control" is assumed. That is, telematic systems will online issue instructions on energy-efficient driving, and the software complex will analyze the quality of the instructions and the data received from the truck. At the second stage, automated control of the accelerator pedal is planned for even more economical and safe movement.

File:Aquote1.png
We are open to innovation and ready to test various technologies. Since fuel economy for any transport company is one of the priority tasks in the context of optimizing fixed costs, "said Dmitry Ievlev.
