The Indian payment system passed with Oracle DB to Tibero

The company TmaxSoft announced on September 26, 2017 project completion of implementation relational DBMS Tibero in the Indian payment system fonePaisa. During the project migration from the operating configuration Oracle DB on Tibero DBMS was made.

Prerequisites

In connection with the sphere of a company performance, a large number of users and tasks of scaling on carrying out millions of transactions a day infrastructure should be protected and fault-tolerant. Together with it, a system needs to maintain the minimum level of expenses on support to propose to clients available solutions.

Choosing a Solution

Initial development of the main applications was conducted using Oracle, but forecasting of further work showed that the constraint licenses of Oracle will manage in too large sum. Besides, according to representatives of fonePaisa, at the initial stages of work with Oracle there were problems in respect of support. Taking into account these circumstances the question of replacement of the corresponding relational DBMS was raised. The choice fell on a RDBMS of Tibero which met all security requirements, availability and the processing speed of transactions.

Project Progress

Transfer of all existing code from the solution of Oracle on the Tibero system was carried out. The final configuration of the solution included: a relational database of Tibero, the solution for fault tolerance of Tibero Active Cluster and Tibero Standby and also all accompanying software.

On a response of the customer, vital issues at migration did not arise as Tibero is compatible to PL/SQL Oracle. Insignificant disagreements were quickly solved by specialists of support of TmaxSoft. Moreover, it was not required to retrain personnel — the skills received during the work with Oracle were used in work with Tibero.

Migration results

According to the results of the project the fonePaisa company received the solution which allowed to save on total cost of ownership, thus that the cost of licenses of Tibero for fonePaisa was 1/3 from the cost of a product of Oracle. According to the estimates of customer representatives, totally Tibero appeared for fonPaisa 280% more economic.
